I have been looking at Coach purses on 2 local sources in the Toronto area and I found the following hand bag that I really like. I did as much research as I could about Coach bags and serial numbers, creeds, quality, etc. Could someone take a look at the pictures and tell me if they think this is a good purchase. When I did my research on this bag it is called a Gallery Tote Serial Number 10384 as specified on the creed picture included.

The wallet looks good but I just want to comment that some wallets (that style among them) are very well faked and buyers need to be very careful when buying them on the secondary market.

I also want to note that you showed the zipper brand, presumably because you've read a guide on the internet that states that "authentic Coaches use YKK zippers." Zipper brand has nothing to do with authenticity and the existence or lack of YKK tell you nothing about authenticity.

Please kindly authenticate..

Comments: There is a lot of fake swagger bags out there, so I just want to have it authenticated before I bid on it.
Please request pictures showing the inside of the tag as well as the white label with the serial number from inside the bag, either sewn into a side seam or into a seam inside the zippered pocket.

Please authenticate. If you could also give a clue to style name and when it's from, I'd greatly appreciate that too. As always, thank you ladies very much for your help!

It's probably okay. We need to see the entire creed in order to be sure. It looks like a Broadway satchel from the early 90s.

Hello,

This is my first authentication request so forgive me if I get something wrong.

Comments: No picture of the creed but the seller states that the serial# is 0341 221. If authentic, can you guess at the era of the bag (e.g. 70s, 80s etc). I doubt this is from the Bonnie Cashin era.

It's absolutely NOT Cashin-era or even a variation of a Cashin design, not even close. If it's genuine it's a Court Bag and if the serial number format is correct the way she wrote it, it wasn't made until 1990 at the earliest and 1993 at the latest, and Cashin cut her ties with Coach in 1974. We've never been able to find any valid Cashin-era bags with serial numbers of any kind AFAIK.

The six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay do a good job of explaining how to figure out the approximate date of genuine Coaches from the serial numbers and creeds:

Comments: I requested additional picture from the seller (attached). I know the creed is blurry, so I understand if it isn't possible to authenticate. Thanks for taking a look!

It seems genuine, depending on a better photo of the creed once you get the bag. I haven't seen any fakes of the early styles with the glued-in numbers but if anyone else has, please let us know.

It's a Basic Bag, style 9455, from the late 70s or very early 80s.
