Hi everyone! Please authenticate this bag. Your help is much appreciated!

Comments: I have the bag now and have a couple days to return it if it's not authentic. Also would love any info on age and style name of the bag if it's authentic. The creed is pretty faded so here's the number (I think): 012-3445 ImageUploadedByPurseForum1445481636.648051.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1445481706.715637.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1445481788.839660.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1445481854.761475.jpg

Thank you!

I just want to add to the "snap" discussion.

In posting a picture of what I thought was the same snap as on the wallet in question, I wasn't implying that the wallet was authentic. (I'd never seen anything like that wallet nor some of the details of the wallet. They didn't look "Coach" to me.)

The point of my post was to show the unusual snap on an authentic Coach item. It was in response to Whateve's post that she'd never seen that type of snap on an authentic Coach item.

I apologize if there was confusion.

I found a picture that shows both the male and female parts of the snap details more clearly. It's from the same style coin purse.

And the authenticator there said it seemed genuine. That's apparently NOT based on any details being correct but on no details being obviously wrong. Even if we could see the details, meaning the stampings, on the snap on the one you bought, that still doesn't prove it's genuine, for the same reason having zippers stamped YKK doesn't prove a Coach purse is genuine - anyone can buy real or fake hardware with the same stamping as the hardware used by Coach.

Small details like snaps and mag snaps were usually never shown in the catalogs, so they can't be fully verified. Many of my catalog files don't even include accessories, and many of the accessory photos may show the inside or outside of a wallet but not both. You also have to take into account that a lot of small accessories were only made for the Factory Stores and there are NO photos or details available about them from Coach or any other original online source. Small accessories often CAN'T be Identified or authenticated with 100 percent certainty. When none of the details match known genuine items, we're fully justified in saying it can't be positively authenticated.

Just for the record, I've never seen that style either, or any other Coach wallet with those interior details. The zipper pull is also unusual, and the edges of the wallet aren't finished off the same way Coach does them. Coach also doesn't, and didn't, use contrast stitching very often either especially in older styles. And I've never seen the Coach stamp in the same position as it is in that wallet. THOSE are the kind of details that point to whether or not something is genuine or counterfeit.

Once again I thank you for sounding in on Snapgate :graucho: I just found another wallet buried at the bottom of my pile that may add to the discussion. I am making a new post so the thread isn't so convoluted.

This is a wallet I found several months ago but it had a broken snap-- or rather the female part had come away from its place and was stuck on the male part-- so it went to the PIA pile. Last night when i picked it up I discovered it had the same snap as my other questionable wallet. Regardless, I'd appreciate knowing if this item is authentic and any name or approximate time frame. Measures 4 5/8" x 4 1/2" when closed.

Thank you!
That bag is fake and had you asked about it before buying, we would have told you to report.

The serial number is shown in the listing, 012-3445 and is a known invalid number.

ETA: Notice that scratches is misspelled on the creed as SCRTCHES.

You don't think a seller who would sell a fake wouldn't lie?

(Did you see the latest comment on the seller's listing?)

That's the same wallet that I posted a picture of when we were talking about the snap. I had it in red. It's from the late 90s, I believe. I never found a catalog picture of that exact style.

Just saw it. Thank you! Hopefully poshmark approves my return request.
galinag is still denying that it's fake. Since it'll be returned, watch for her to relist.
