IMPORTANT READ-ME

Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.
For further information, please refer to the first post on page 1 of this thread.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:
    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

The picture you've attached showing the weave of the lining looks good. On many fakes, it's very loosely woven. But tightly woven fabric doesn't make the pouch is authentic.

The back plate of the turnlock is wrong and may have been replaced or may not have been.

But neither of the above mean the pouch is authentic. The logo isn't even close to where it should be in a genuine turnlock case.

Another difference I noted is that the lining isn't sewn in correctly. Compare and note the stitching on the authentic one.

ETA: Although my purpose of posting the comp is to show the difference in how it's sewn in, the following comparison, you can actually see a difference in the lining too.

Other opinions are welcome. @whateve @houseof999
I agree it's fake.

Hi just wondering if anyone can authenticate this bag…thanks in advance!View attachment 6211976

I also found that listing on ebay:
Seller desdepa-34
https://www.ebay.com/itm/388577304425

Please wait for other opinions on this one.

The bag looks good to me but appears to have a mistake. It looks like Coach stamped the wrong style number on it.

@whateve
I agree. I think it is authentic but has a mistake.

Hello!

I just bought my first nice purse, and wanted to make sure it's authentic. It's the Coach Runway Chain Tabby Shoulder Bag 35, and I purchased it on Zalando.

Thank you in advance! :)

Small bump as it seems my post was missed. I'm coming up on the return window, and would really appreciate any opinions!
I don't see any problems.

But let's get @houseof999 's opinion too.

Some of the newer fakes are so close that a second opinion never hurts.

PSA and vent

I'm speaking only for myself. The others may chime in if they'd like.

Most of the other "Authenticate This" subforums on TPF will only authenticate potential purchases for buyers. They require that listings be active. They don't authenticate Facebook Marketplace listings, Craigslist listings, items received as gifts, items purchased from estate or garage sales, and they don't authenticate items from sellers/resellers. Their way of thinking is that sellers are in "business" and they should use and pay for professional authentications.

Unlike most of the other "Authenticate This" subforums, those who authenticate Coach are ready, willing and able to help buyers AND sellers. (TPF rules must be followed, i.e., no links to your own active listings.)

We don't want buyers to be fooled by a fake and ripped off nor do we want them to falsely accuse a seller of sending a fake if the bag they received is authentic.

And because we don't want buyers ripped off, we're also willing to help sellers who do their due diligence and want to verify that the item(s) they want to list are the real deal.

As such, we'll help sellers too when they come here, preferably before listing, but even after they've listed an item. Sometimes mistakes are made and a fake is unknowingly listed, often learned through a message from an interested buyer.

When such sellers come here, I don't mind helping them but if it turns out that an item is determined to be fake, I expect that seller to end their listings of fakes. And often, they do end their listing once they learn that they've listed a fake.

But to see that sometimes fakes are sold even after the seller has come here and received confirmation of non-authenticity, that is not only a slap in the face to those of us who freely share our knowledge but it also speak volumes to the integrity (or lack thereof) of the seller.

Please feel free to come here to verify authenticity of your items, but do the right thing if you find out your item is fake. DO NOT SELL IT!

If it's still listed after the seller has come here and learned it's fake, then report it!
