Comments: Do we even know that the coin purse is Coach? THe only thing with "Coach" is the fake hangtag! Plus, with a silver chain and keyring and fake gold/brass hangtag.....

ETA: Note that she uses "authentic" for the few genuine items and omits the word on others.

She also has this fake:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Gen...t-Condition-/151801686976?hash=item235815ebc0

and although she doesn't show the creed, the invalid prefix of J4K is telling:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-COA...AG-j4k-9812-/161735878609?hash=item25a835a7d1

The genuine Coin Purses don't have the Coach name anywhere on them either, although a few may have the country of origin stamped on the bottom. There's nothing to say it's fake besides having an obviously fake hangtag. The only provable fake of that style I've ever seen had the hole for the hangtag chain on the right side instead of the left.

The other two are definitely fake and are listed in Part 1 and/or Part 2 of the Daria48 Fake Numbers list at Ebay as well as my lists here at tPF:

Thank you, Hyacinth!

Do you (or anyone) know what style it is? My searches have come up with inconsistencies.

And if you're search has come up with inconsistencies, maybe you're searching Google using the last 4 numbers? As I've explained in several of the Salearea Guides, that doesn't work with vintage bags.

Unfortunately for us, Coach made some of these city bag fobs without any Coach markings other than the leather hangtag. I have two that were both bought on ebay, one of which has a logo and a "made in" stamp and the other which doesn't, yet I believe they are both authentic. Both of mine have identical chains and rings. The one without markings is an unusual color that Coach made for a short time and has nickel hardware which furthers my belief it is authentic, and I believe it is older than the one with the "made in China" stamp.

For some reason the link didn't work. Here it is again, in case it works this time: http://www.ebay.com/itm/161822064477?ru=http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=161822064477&_rdc=1

The hangtag is definitely fake. The chain and keyring aren't right for this style. As for the leather case, the eyelet ring looks thicker than those on the cases I own.

I think it is reportable for these reasons. Here is a picture showing what the chain and ring should look like.

Yes, your work in the Salearea guides has been a wealth of info for me that I reference quite often. Actually, that's where I read about the 8-digit, no-hyphen serial number & then had hope for my bag's authenticity. :)

With this particular bag, I found a few online but they had been labeled with generic or incorrect style names.

Thanks for your response & good evening!

Thanks, ladies. I've also had a couple of those items over the years and I know they had minimal or no markings.

I guess my question should have been phrased, "is there anything you see that proves it to be fake?" But I guess the answer to that is also no.

I think you can still report it. As long as there is one thing in the listing that isn't authentic (the hangtag), the seller isn't allowed to sell it as it is.

Remember that seller who made those Frankenstein creations with parts of genuine Coach items? I reported those and explained that they were never sold as they were being represented in the listings, and they were removed.

1- I'm NOT comfortable with that creed and serial number.

2, 3, 4, 5, 6- look ok

Thank you Hyacinth. I will skip #3 in that case. #1 bought so wish me luck on bidding #2! [emoji13]

Hi again. Sorry my last post was wrong. I am now bidding on #1. Really hoping I will be the next owner. May I know around what year bag #1 was made? I would love to sound more knowledgeable when I show the bag
(or brag[emoji13]) to my sisters. Thank you.

And this one too please:

Item: VINTAGE BONNIE CASHIN ERA COACH 1908 Brown Leather Crossbody Flap USA Purse Bag
Listing: 151804550503
Seller: onemanstreasurestore
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BON...dd2d22&pid=100167&rk=1&rkt=15&sd=201424176541

Thank you!

It may be genuine, although I'm not sure of the style, possibly a Convertible Clutch, style 9635. But it absolutely is NOT "CASHIN-ERA"! It was made after 1987, and Cashin ended her connections with Coach in 1974. This one dates from between 1988 and maybe 1990-91. Please don't believe any dates posted in listings by this seller.

I think we've pretty much come to the conclusion that no genuine Cashin-era bags, meaning they would have to have been made no later than 1974, would EVER have creeds with serial numbers, and most likely wouldn't have creed stamps at all.

EDITED TO ADD - seller " onemanstreasurestore " doesn't have a good record for telling real from fake either. I'd recommend looking elsewhere:

Not easy, also very expensive. And ALWAYS ask here before you bid! A HUGE percentage of bags that are listed as Bonnie Cashin" or "Cashin-era" have absolutely NO connection to Cashin. Many sellers are clueless as to Cashin, her designs, and when their items were actually made, and of course, some sellers deliberately mislead buyers by using Cashin's name for much newer items. I've seen bage made in the last 15 years described as "Cashin" and not just the tribute bags we mentioned. My guess is that maybe only one-fourth, if that, of the bags listed as "Cashin" have ANY connection at all to that designer. For instance, Cashin ended her connection with Coach in 1974, so any bags with a stamped creed and especially with a serial number is NOT a Cashin-Era bag.

There are people here in this thread and at the Vintage Coach Photos and Chat Club in the Clubhouse section of the main Coach forum who can give you a lot of good information on how to collect the Real Thing.
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-clubhouse/vintage-coach-photos-and-chat-857690.html

Bookmark or Save that link, and DON'T get involved with collecting vintage or especially Cashin bags without checking here first. There are misleading ads, fakes, and hidden problems that our vintage specialists like Whateve will be able to point out. And do some research on the subject before you start collecting.

Thanks for very interesting link! After I saw vintage thread, I don't think I can collect 2/3 only - as planned. My plan was max 2/3 of each Vtg from Dooney/Coach/other brand [emoji33]

Comments: Thanks in advance!

You seem to have hit the jackpot when it comes to sellers who don't even know what they're selling. :graucho:

It's NOT a Stewardess Bag - not even close. It looks like a Spectator bag style 9795 from around 1987. It's genuine.
