Thank you and be safe!

I got this a while ago at an estate sale. I would love it authenticated. Im starting to thin out my collection as I don't have space to keep them all, any advice on a good place to sell would be greatly appreciated. I put this bag up on eBay and was taken down because of the counterfeit policy. I certainly don't want to sell a bad bag and I can't find a counterfeit problem with the bag, but would love advice from an expert if I have missed something. Thanks again.
ps is there a way to just search this thread? I couldn't find a separate search bar. I am relatively new to the sight, and would love to be more self sufficient. Thanks so so much I appreciate the time taken out of your day to respond to us.

I think it is authentic. What's odd about the bag is that the leather appears to be pebbled rather than smooth. That might be why it was removed.

To search any thread on the forum used the search box at the top right of the page (on a desktop). Once you start the search it gives you the option to search everywhere, just this forum or just this thread.
The texture of a natural product isn't a valid reason for the removal of an authentic item. It may have been why it was reported by someone who doesn't recognize what to look for in determining authenticity but it should never have been removed.

If that listing was reported as fake, whoever (s) submitted that report needs to stop reporting items of brands they don't know well enough to report!

@lisa brightfire. Are you sure it was removed as counterfeit? Did the notice say anything about (perhaps) not enough pictures or detailed description?

Is it possible to copy and paste the removal notice, redacting any personal information?

I got an notice that says "This listing was removed for violating our Counterfeit items policy" they did refused to tell me the reason why when I asked direct questions to the "e-bay associate" (maybe bot?) they said it was to protect others (that may have reported)... I honestly didn't want to know who, I just wanted to know what I did wrong so I could fix it, Im new to selling on eBay. I wasn't sure if it was my add verbiage or the pictures or if they actually saw a counterfeit reason to take it down. If it was something I did/can fix or if it was actually counterfeit. I don't want to sell a fake bag, but they wouldn't say. They took bag 2 of 3 down for the same reason later today. Im not sure if it's this hard for everyone or if im just on the red flag radar. They don't have issues with my other brand name things that are a much higher ticket items. So I don't know what's going on, Im new to selling my things on eBay and a bit discouraged. This Is why I came to you guys to authenticate the bag, to make sure it was/wasn't real (to the best of mine and yours ability). They also wanted proof it was real, an original receipt or an authentication from coach or they would not put the add back up. I told them Im pretty sure coach won't auth a vintage bag. (let me know if Im wrong on that, Ive read it a few places) And I don't have a original receipt from Coach on a vintage bag I got an estate sale.
Sorry this is kinda all over the place. Brain is scatted this late at night.
Thanks for any/all advice

Hey Ladies, I moved away buying from Coach bags for many years, so I’m no longer certain if what I’m looking at is genuine or not. I’m interested in a second-hand bag, but it has NO identification number on it, which I have never seen before. From what I remember when I used to buy Coach, a handbag having no creed number was unheard of, and therefore is a serious red flag for me. Does Coach still use Creed ID numbers, or have they stopped? I enclose a bunch of pics for your perusal. Before I either report the seller OR purchase the bag, can someone tell me if I’m right or wrong about the creed, and if the bag is genuine or not? Many thanks, in advance.
Ooh, before I forget, I also think I remember Coach using YKK zippers. Has that changed as well? I just saw another bag that has ‘Coach New York’ stamped on, no YKK.

Ooh, before I forget, I also think I remember Coach using YKK zippers. Has that changed as well? I just saw another bag that has ‘Coach New York’ stamped on, no YKK.
1. The YKK zipper myth has always been just that -- a myth. Over the years, Coach has always used various brands of zippers and zipper brand has nothing to do with authenticity. (Note also that YKK zippers are faked since the counterfeiters read the same inaccurate "authenticity guides" that are. out there.)

2. Over the years, creeds have changed, serial numbering has changed, formatting of serial numbers varies, and many of the things might have been a red flag at one time are no longer red flags.

3. There are very few "always/never" rules when it comes to Coach.

4. It's been said many times over the years that the most consistent thing about Coach is inconsistency, as evidenced by this post from baglady39 from August 2008: "The thing you have to keep in mind is that there is nothing consistent about Coach but the inconsistencies!" and this one from me in August 2009: "Remember that the most consistent thing about Coach is its inconsistency." (It may have been quoted prior to 2008 but I didn't find any posts.)

With all that said, going back to the bag you're looking at, there's a bit more information we need to authenticate it. (Post 1 page 1 and the yellow highlighted post at the top of each page of this thread tell the necessary information.)

So far, I don't see any obvious problems but aside from not seeing the seller ID and a link to the listing, there should be a small white tag buried inside the bag somewhere, probably in the lower left corner of the zipper pocket. If the seller can show a picture of that, it would help in the authentication of the bag.

Thanks ever so much for this information. All the bags I used to have had the YKK zips, so I just assumed they all did, tbh. Back in the day I used to buy all my bags from the Coach shop, but the last time I bought a Coach bag was 2012, quite a number of years ago! I very much appreciate you letting me know that bags don’t necessarily have YKK zippers.
So you are also basically saying that the creed number is no longer stamped on the sewn-on, stamped leather stitched to the inside of the bag?
I will ask the seller for a photo of the tag. Just out of interest, what is this tag supposed to show?
Thanks again, in advance.

What I'm saying is that for a period of time (during which your bag would have been manufactured), numbers were not stamped on the creed -- or there were numbers on the creed that weren't indicative or the style or when the back would have been made.

The tag has the same production information that post-1994 creed serial numbers had: month/year/plant-style number.

But be forewarned that even the white tags have been faked so their existence isn't necessarily indicative of a genuine Coach bag.

It's just because you are new to selling on ebay. You have to build up a reputation for them to trust you. You have to start small with a few listings. I don't know how you can get past the receipt request. IMO that is ridiculous. Someone else recently appealed the decision and got their listings restored. I don't know how that was accomplished.

Hello, this is my first Coach bag that I bought secondhand from a Japanese consignment account on Mercari, but I'm... not sure about it. Seller stated that it may be differences in appearance but are 100% authentic and they don't sell counterfeits. It almost looks different than what the seller's pictures were on the listing. It also came with Coach's "thank you" card, a dust bag, care instructions, personal info card, and the price tag that was on it.

When I received it yesterday and looked at it closely, the front of the bag's stitching was off (the lighter stitching that's supposed to be behind the "C") and the inside stitching on the front side is just messy. There were quite a few loose threads around the bag, too. The creed patch seems off (pictured) and the leather parts were lighter than what's on Coach's website. I looked at the inside tag and it does have the white dot next to "Made in Vietnam" and the zipper does have a "YKK" engraving/stamp on it but I want a second opinion, since I think it might just be a factory reject/outlet bag, which I'm fine with, but I'm more leaning on the side that it's fake. :/

I agree that it's fake and this confirms my opinions of and warnings against buying from Japanese sellers.

Open a return claim for counterfeit item. You do NOT have to lose money on a fake.
I'll see if I can open a return, I don't know if I can since I already closed the transaction by leaving the seller feedback (this was before I noticed the bag looking off).

I buy second hand a lot. I had to learn the hard way to get it authenticated here before buying. I recommend checking here before buying.
Yes, I will remember this next time if I decide to buy secondhand. Thanks!!

Contact them anyway. They offer buyer protection so they should refund you as it is illegal to sell counterfeits.
