Hello all! Bought a vintage coach bucket bag for my mom's bday, and then, after 3 years of saying she wished she had this bag but NOT buying it herself, she went out and got it last week. So! I'm returning that and getting her another bag! Help authenticating this would be appreciated.

Item: "Medium size Coach bag with Olympics insignia"
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: Poshmark, username raptrick
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Medium...64ea13dcf86b18f5d5b1d76#utm_source=gdm_unpaid
Comments: A little nervous about this one because I've never seen another Olympic bag like it and the pictures are a bit sparse/badly lit.
I'm not sure what is going on here. I believe the Olympics insignia was added to the bag later. The bag itself is authentic, made in the early 90s. Coach made some items for the 1996 Olympics, later than this bag was made, and those had special creeds for the Olympics.
It gets weirder!

Although raptrick doesn't show the creed so we don't know when it was made, the following listing also has the "different" Olympic logo than that which is usually on Olympic items.

Something isn't sitting right with me.

They may have come from a collection of someone who put Olympic logos on all their items! Coach used a similar logo on smaller items but, again, these were made in 1996.

Hello all! New here so I’m hoping someone can help, as this is my first vintage Coach I’m 50/50 on whether it’s real or not.

Coach Mini Ergo 9020
Purchased online from a seller who just called it “coach shoulder bag” and it was inexpensive.

It’s missing its hang tag sadly, has a little wear on the edges but overall is really nice. I’m just not sure whether it’s real or fake, and I don’t know enough about the older bags to spot the font differences nor know where they’re made. I have a few coach bags but nothing this old (if it is!) so would appreciate any help - thanks in advance!

Approx dimensions W 23.5cm x H 16.5cm x D 5cm.

Sorry about that, will include the sellers ID in the future! And that’s very true, thank you so much!
A couple years ago, it wasn’t unusual to find some great bags online for $30 or $40. Sometimes sellers just aren’t knowledgeable and other times, they just want to move it! I have found deals on bags simply listed as “blue Coach purse” or “Vintage Coach bag”. Sellers are more savvy now so those listings are likely less common and they probably get snapped up immediately.

We need the seller ID and a link to the online listing (even though the listing has ended/sold).

Ahh this looks like such a good deal! Is it too good to be true? It looks like it is from Japan— I haven’t bought any bags from there yet. Is there anything to beware of or do you think it is a safe bet? Thanks!

It's an authentic Madison Regis bag. I've bought bags on ebay from Japan. I've never bought from Mercari Japan. I believe that all the bags you see on Mercari that are from Japan are from different sellers in Japan but they are grouped so it appears they are all from the same seller.

Ahh thank you! I just bought it! I can’t believe I bought two bags in one day haha! Vintage coach is so addictive! But it’s ok, I guess I’m treating myself today! Need days like that sometimes! I’m so excited wear them!

That's so interesting! So this could be the seller adding the Olympics logo to up the value, but also could've been the original owner adding the Olympics logo to their own authentic bag just out of their own preference? I never would've thought of this...

Back with more Olympics authenticity requests! Also if anyone has any resources on 1996 Olympics-specific authenticity tips, I'd love to see them! Discussion on the differing logos and creeds for the Olympics bags is really interesting to me. Thank you so much for all of your help with my bag search!

Comments: Feel a little silly asking to authenticate a bag with the original tag still on it, but I'm trying to be thorough!
