Hi Good afternoon Ladies. I'm wondering if this sellers bags are real, and if so i wonder if He/She is allowed to use the coach pictures from a brochure or ad? They are even putting their name on the pictures from the brochures? Is that ok to do? Thanks, just wondering. Seller is thepurplecocoon on etsy.

That seller's items and her unauthorized use of Coach's catalog pictures were discussed in the past.

In that post, I copied and pasted a section of terms DIRECTLY FROM COACH'S WEBSITE. (The red boldface is my doing to show the pertinent parts.)

They clearly disallow use for commercial purposes and putting one's own watermark on someone else's work is WRONG. (And using them in the listings on an online selling site IS commercial use!)

EDIT: @bronzepursie - may I ask if someone sent you here to ask about that seller's use of catalog pictures?

Hello everyone!
Thank you in advance for offering this service

Comments: From a preliminary search on this thread I see that this seller has listed both authentic and fake items so it's up to the buyer's due diligence. MY CONCERN IS THE HARDWARE: IT LOOKS LIKE THE COATING IS CHIPPING OFF WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IF IT SHOULD BE SOLID BRASS? AKA THE BUCKLE IN THE FIRST ATTACHED PHOTO, AND THE ZIPPER MECHANISM IN THE SECOND ATTACHED PHOTO (SEE LINK FOR MORE)

The bag is authentic, made in 1994. The hardware isn't solid brass.

Thank you so much, BeenBurned! I have a Coach from I believe 1996 that appears to have solid brass hardware (it doesn‘t chip, only a type of clear coat chips off to reveal what looks like brass underneath), did it vary from style to style, or only from year to year? Would love to know more.CCEE76AE-81A8-490C-B6B1-616283E3E4D8.jpeg
Edit: here‘s the turnlock on my bag where I can see some kind of coating wearing away. Where the coat has chipped away on the left side of the knob, it‘s lighter underneath and looks like solid brass unlike the dark base metal underneath the shiny coating on the buckle of the Janice. I’m clearly not the expert though, that‘s why I‘m asking you for clarification

Comments: Only 3 pictures available and the creed is not very clear. But I know this style usually goes for a lot more, so trying to decide quickly if I should take the risk. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Added an extra picture of the creed.

They stopped used solid brass hardware on most bags in the 80s. There were a few lines after that that were advertised as having solid brass hardware. When hardware is solid brass, it is super heavy. Large buckles like the ones used on Janice would make the bag really heavy. I think what you are seeing is tarnish rather than base metal showing through.

That's interesting, good to know. Thank you!
