No, they're not the same style. They were made at least 15 years apart and although they're very similar they have different names, style numbers, and different details on the front flap

The red one you're asking about was made in 2002 and is just called a Saddle Bag. It's not a Berkeley style, and it's not "vintage". It seems genuine but I wish the creed stamp was clearer, I can't be completely sure without a better creed and serial number photo.

Please wait for more opinions.

I think it looks okay too.

Thanks a lot Hyacinth and whateve, for your time and great info u gave me. I am only interested in Coach older Vintage so I will pass the red crescent bag. Hopefully the old model that I wanted will b available again soon

Hope both of u have a great day! [emoji8]

There have been several similar soho swingpacks. I have 8A13 as looking very similar but yours doesn't have the tassel. There were similar styles. I'll try to see if I have a closer one in my files.

I do feel comfortable in saying that the bag looks fine.

I have the 8A13 purchased in 2006 for a trip to Disney World. I paid $136.74 for it back then. I got it at the Factory Store.

The Irregular stamp just means there was some small flaw.

This bag was probably made before Coach even had outlet stores. It's not style 8533 and it's not a Willis. It's actually style number 9695 and was called a School Bag and was made in the mid-1980s. Whatever that long tassel thing is, that wasn't a part of the original bag.

The ink stains in the "inner pouch" probably WON'T come out with leather cleaner, BTW. It's a shame there's no photo of the ink stain. I'm wondering if the bag itself was redyed. And those strips of leather that make up the tassel match the bag almost too well for something that didn't come with it. If you buy it, please find out the seller's return policy and examine it closely for signs of re-dyeing when you get it.
I purchased this bag (I found it on Etsy, and came here searching for the same answers. Sorry...). It is beautiful, and I don't believe it was re-dyed. It even came with the little pouch of information and adverts for coach wallets and belts! The ink stain is definitely permanent, but it is more solid and on the surface, making me think it may be makeup of some sort, not ink, but I rarely use the zipper pockets in my vintage coaches anyway.

I just wanted to say that I appreciated the info (and the catalog clipping!). You are always such an amazing help, Hyacinth!

Hello Everyone!

Please help. TIA!

Item: AUTH COACH Brown Leather Gold Tone Duffle Sac Tote Handbag
Listing number: 311427825994
Seller: Linda's Stuff (eBay name: linda*s***stuff)
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311427825994
Comments: It's a brown duffle sac with the serial code K4A-9085. The 'A' plant designation is troubling me. However, Linda's Stuff is a reputable seller and I have never heard of them selling fakes. Were there any exceptions to the use of the 'A' plant?

I want to comment on Lindas stuff ( linda*s***stuff ) and some of the history.

Although Linda is known for being easy to deal with as far as disputes and returns, she also has a long history of listing fakes. She claims to have her items authenticated and in some instances, I believe she does do it. But in many listings where she "guarantees authenticity," items are such obvious fakes that it's pretty clear that she didn't do her homework and/or the authentication services she uses don't know the brands.

And reports on Linda's items don't result in listing removals. it's my belief that Linda has "special snowflake" status and gets "heads up" phone calls when she lists fakes.

As an example, this is a listing from May was never removed although she ended it after getting a phone call:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AUTH-COACH-...807?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item487dfc01a7
And a picture of the keychain in that listing.

And this listing from March was never removed by ebay but the seller got a heads up phone call to end it:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Beige-Leather-Flap-Foldover-Crossbody-Small-Handbag-/201259458873?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edbffa139&rmvSB=true&nma=true&si=djYlR%252ByZeaOpUFzxSaN6cAFmgtk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
$_57.JPG

yet this emblem is in her listings:
100_authentic.jpg

My caveat is that although she offers great customer service, has some nice items and many authentic ones, buyers need to be careful.

I've bought things from Linda before, but never Coach. Everything was great. I do believe she's a special snowflake in the eBay universe. She's got over half a million sales. And she already has a store and doesn't really need to use eBay anymore; so, she's probably getting some special treatment. I guess a heads up from me probably won't make it past her elves.

I think that in this case the A factory code is fine. I have several in my files that are similar. I think the bag is authentic.

While the A code was never supposed to be used since it designated NYC, which was supposedly closed when C and D were opened, we've seen it several times on bags that don't have any other problems. It is possible that these were bags made in NYC for training purposes, or they were made at another plant but the factory code got set to the wrong thing.

Thank you! I'd heard of a few bags coming from the A factory, but thought it might be an urban legend.

[Now...Off to scrap a strongly worded e-mail.]

I wasn't intending to offer an authentication on the bag in question. I was merely pointing out that she has a long history of listing fakes, using inadequately qualified authenticators (across multiple brands) and finding it nearly impossible to get through to her that she may want to find new authentication companies.

You're welcome! :D I'm glad I responded before you sent it!

Of course! I knew that. It is important to comment on the seller even if the bag in question is authentic.
