Dear authenticators,

Hello! could you please help me to authenticate this bag?

Item:Vintage Coach Taft Bag #9980
Where purchased or how obtained:I live in Japan and bought on the Japanese internet auction
Comments:
I think style number is correct, but I feel something wrong with font. I researched font-related thread on this site, but I have no confidence. Is this the authentic creed?
The leather seems hard, not soft as well.
Thank you for your help!

Sorry, it's fake. There's a problem with both the serial number and the hardware, in addition to what you already mentioned.

We do NOT recommend buying from Japanese sellers, even in Japan. In the last 10 or 15 years the number of fake Coaches coming out of Japan has gone from almost zero to hundreds if not thousands, and "Coach" items should not be purchased from that source without a thorough and competent authentication by the Purse Forum before buying. Can you get your money back?

Hi Hyacinth,

Thank you so much!
If it's possible, could you tell me the detail problem this hardware has?

The back of the turnlock plate that the prongs of the front plate are fastened to has 4 indentations for the prongs. Genuine original vintage Coach turnlocks had no indentations.

The brand of zipper does not prove anything about authenticity.

Item: Coach Amanda Darcy Silver Woven Straw Kiss Lock Clutch Handbag Purse
Listing number: 195226351
Seller and site where listed: Goodwill-Easter Seals MN; Shopgoodwill.com ($36)

Comments: I believe that this is an Amanda Darcy Convertible Clutch #13592 from 2009; please share your opinion about authenticity, thank you!

Also, do you know the full name of this specific bag and the approximate release date and/or original price? I have been searching TPF and online, and also the Wayback Machine, but I haven't been able to find out much about it, thanks!
It's fine.

I was hoping to find one listed somewhere with a tag but came up empty.

Good morning Authenticators! Can someone take a look at this toiletry bag? If authentic, any idea of the style name/number, year, photo etc? Thanks for your help.

item: Vintage Coach Toiletry Bag Case Black Leather
Seller: Radiant

BUMP please. My apology if I overlooked a reply. Could this be #5015 Travel kit if authentic?
It looks good to me. I think you're correct about the style number. It looks like the full name is U-zip travel kit.

I found the exact same clutch listed on eBay between $93 - $159 I have sat here and researched everything and everywhere I know to in Coach A0993-13592 Amanda Silver Darcy Kiss Lock (everyone is listing it as the 1941 Amanda ….)
Thank you for checking! 1941 was the year that Coach was founded and in the past they have released a line of anniversary bags called the 1941 line. And now the term 1941 sometimes gets attached to bags posted for online sale even if the specific bag has nothing to do with the 1941 line of bags. I don't think that this Darcy was actually ever named a 1941 bag by Coach but it seems that the term has stuck.

Hi all! First post so I hope I do this correctly. And I’m so glad I found this forum; what an incredible resource — very grateful for those willing to spend the time. I’m starting to downsize my collection in the name of supporting my new career venture and want to make sure I’m representing honestly, as most of my items are secondhand.
Hoping for an authentication of what I believe to be a Convertible Clutch — I searched and saw some variation on the number formats contained on items authenticated here (assume this is variation is due to the 1994 switch), so I want to be super sure. Strap measurement not including hardware is 43”. Thank you!

Item: Black Ergo XL Tote 10744 (2006)
Where purchased or how obtained: Local Thrift Store
Measurements: 18" tall w/handle, 10-12 "tall w/o handle, 13-14 " wide, 5-6" across base

Comments: This is a long story, sorry!

Recently I was looking through my humongously large "rehab pile" to find a bag that I could restore and give to a friend for her upcoming birthday. I selected a black XL Ergo Tote 10744 with Legacy Stripe lining.

I thought that i had previously authenticated this bag here. In fact, I even noticed some eye shadow residue on the creed patch when I began the rehab process. I must have applied the eye shadow to try and sharpen the very faint creed patch for photos.

I've finished the rehab and I am very pleased results but I now realize that I never had it authenticated. I don't have any "before" pictures and I can't find an authentication request here on TPF. (You did authenticate another black 10744 Ergo for me about 4 years ago, but that was a different bag and I still have that bag.)

I think what happened with this bag is that I had problems getting a good picture of the creed because the stamping is very faint. I think that I put it away and planed to try again later, but then I forgot about it and I never had it authenticated. Now the creed is even fainter because I've dunked and rehabbed the bag!

I truly believe that this is a genuine XL Ergo Tote 10744 because it is a very distinctive bag, but I am a bit nervous about giving it as a gift because it has a funky creed patch and it has never been authenticated.

Please take a look at the attached pictures and give me your opinion about authenticity. I have again tried to use eye shadow to enhance the creed patch on a couple of the pictures; if you need more photos just let me know. Thank you!

Thanks so much for the authentication @BeenBurned. Do you have a catalog or tag photo to share? Also, any idea when Coach released this case?
Thank you!
Hope my message doesn't get deleted again. I don't understand why, but my same reply to you yesterday was deleted with this message:
"Your post in the thread Authenticate This COACH - **see first post for format** was deleted. Reason: this is not a chat thread, only approved authenticators may respond to requests"
