Please follow the following requests:

• For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
• For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read

Hello, this is my first time posting here and I am not sure if I am doing it properly.

Please assist me in authenticating this bag, I purchased it at Goodwill and it appears to be good quality.

The measurements are 15 * 11 * 3

I believe it is a metropolitan but the style number doesn’t match others I have seen online, and it says made in New York City which might be inconsistent with what I have read.

It also came with some papers that have a 1986 copyright on one of them so…I’m not sure really.

It's authentic. It does look like a Metropolitan. Bags made before 1994 don't have the style number in the creed. These earlier bags have a creed number that is all numbers. It is a random number and doesn't mean anything. Your bag was made in the mid 80s, probably soon after the date on the paperwork.

Thank you so much, Hyacinth. If you don't mind me asking, how did you know? Were there any telling signs?

There seldom are any "telling signs" that a Coach is genuine, and if there are, we don't post them publicly since we're not about to tell the counterfeiters how to make more accurate fakes.

As to how we know - the 3 authenticators here have decades of experience buying, selling and collecting Coaches and we have a combined photo library of probably close to 300,000 photos of both real and fake Coaches. That doesn't include text files, where we all keep descriptions of various details found in both fake and genuine styles as well as interesting information posted by other forum members..

I strongly suggest that you and all the other new members who might see this start with learning some basics of what Coaches should and shouldn't be, Start with the thread titled "SALEAREA GUIDES" posted and Pinned to the top of this Coach Shopping Forum. Read the entire thread.:
