I spotted this backpack on eBay and would love to get it for its simple lines, but am having doubt abouts its authenticity because the Coach logo is on the outside (the only part of the design that I do not like), there does not appear to be any serial number on the inside and I cannot find any other reference to this model of Coach backpack online (apart from that posted by the seller). Here are the auction details:

I'm not familiar with it so I can't tell you if it is authentic. Very new bags no longer have numbers on a creed on the inside. Since this has a creed on the outside, it is likely they didn't put one on the inside. However, there should still be a small tag sewn into the interior pocket with the creed number, including the date and factory codes, as well as the style number. If this is a new style made for factory, I'm surprised there aren't any others on ebay.

Coach is no longer stamping serial numbers inside their bags. I don't recognise it but I don't see any red flags.

Wallets are really hard to authenticate. It looks exactly like my gathered Madison wallet except for the color. The dustbag looks fake. What worries you about it, besides the dustbag?

Thank you both. I have a gathered wallet but it is the gathered one that is on FP online store where it has more of a twist all over. But the texture of the leather just felt a little different from any of them that i have. But we all know the leather can be vary from one to next anyway so figured i better just have a double check. And the bag really through the questioning in.

Part of the reason why you might not have found it in a search if searching by style name is because the seller used the wrong name. She has Atskill instead of Catskill.

It's authentic but it's a good idea to have wallets authenticated because they're highly faked and sometimes well-faked. But again, this one is good.

They made two varieties of gathered wallets. One had a larger emblem. There is also a newer version that is the gathered twist. The brown one you just got is probably from 2011/2012.

That dustbag would have made me really nervous too. Did you ask the seller where the dustbag came from? Wallets don't usually come with dustbags but I bought one once on ebay that came with one. At least my dustbag was authentic. Actually I've never bought a wallet from the full price store so I don't know for sure.

It's authentic and it is a fantastic find! It was made in 1998. It is a Gramercy North/South Satchel. These are hard to find.

No I didn't ask where they got the bag from but I will. And my gathered wallet that I have is black and had the rectangular Madison emblem on the front. Yes, it did come with the storage bag from the original , my husband bought it from Singapore Coach during his business trip, it probably for Asia line is a bit different with United States.

What does it feel like? From the picture it looks like that cheap psuedo material that is almost like spongy paper. I can't believe Coach would use a dustbag that wasn't made of real fabric. There would be no reason to have different dustbags in different markets. There are a few tpf members from Singapore - maybe you could ask one of them.

The dustbag I got with my wallet has the drawstring on the long side. It looks exactly like the larger dustbags, made of silky polyester, with the Coach emblem and horse and carriage in the corner. There is a double line of stitching below the drawstring. I think it was made for a clutch but sometimes SAs will give out extra dustbags if asked.

I'm concerned that the wallet was bought in Asia. There are some really good fakes coming out of Asia.

The wallet feels substantial, not flimsy or badly made. The leather on the outside has more of a sheen and feels a little different than my others I don't know how to explain it. It could just be from it not being used and my others have been used often, and I have sprayed all mine with apple guarde . I'm leaning to it being good and if it is a fake its a damn good one. But the bag I'm thinking is definitely fake and maybe they really didn't come together like she is saying. I don't know. I will take it all to the coach store here and see if they could confirm.


Oh and here is a close up of the bag. It is a spongy type of paper feel. scratchy like. Reminds me of hospital mask or shoe coverings.
