Theonly VALID comparisons that can ever be made between Coach bags is between 2 genuine bags with EXACTLY the same style number and preferably made in the same plant, month and year. Coach has used different weights and thicknesses of leather over the years as well as different types and weights of hardware. Comparing the weights of different styles is useless to "prove" authenticity and is also a waste of time. That's like saying I should be the same height and weight as my cousin.

The bag in the photos is a GENUINE Large Daypack made in 2001.
I really really really appreciate you all! Thank you!!!

Hello, please check the following. Also, if authentic, do you know what style and color it is? Thanks!

Item: Double buckle briefcase
Purchased at a flea market
Measurements: 16.5" x 10.5" x 4"
Comments: It's a reddish brown, so not sure if it would be considered burgundy or a faded mahogany?

Item: Compartment Bag Spectator (I think it's what it's called)
Where purchased or how obtained: I got it from a small thrift shop and it stinks like hell. Its like.. musty?, fungus?, garage smell.
Comments: I'm assuming it's fake but I read that there are such thing as irregular printing and mistakes. The printing is pretty faint so I had to take the photo of the tag at an angle so that my flash can capture it better. I think it was 9.5 X 2.5 X 5

hi there! :happydance:how is everyone’s day going? it’s been gloomy over here lately so I’m ready to see the sun again. i made a purchase for a backpack and would like your help with confirming it’s authenticity. my main concern is in the straps. the first 2 holes in each strap are different than the rest. most are tiny compared to the first 2. another thing is one strap has 6 holes where as the other has 7. could these be mistakes from coach? I did search online to try to make comparisons with other 9960 but from what I read it’s best to do so with them being from the same plant? I am curious to hear your take on this or if anyone else has noticed something similar with their 9960? as always, I appreciate your time and help:flowers:

It's a genuine Daypack made in 2002.

As for the holes in the strap, did you consider the possibility that whoever owned it punched extra holes in the strap herself?

Genuine Compartment Bag Spectator from the late 1980s.

I suggest searching the Rehab and Rescue sub-forum for advice on how to get rid of bad smells:

If there are no attachment points for a strap it's probably style 5240 Wall Street Briefcase from the late 1980s. Here's the Fall 1989 catalog page:
