Hi! I would love help to figure out if this is an authentic vintage coach purse. If it is authentic, is it worth restoring? Or would the costs be more than the bag is worth. I wouldn't want to resell if it's real, it would just be nice to restore and pass it down to my kids one day!
Details are below.
- I think it's the Penny Pocket
- dimensions: 9.5x5.5 or 6x2.25
- I bought it a few years ago at a charity thrift shop in Westfield, NJ (a moderately weathy area)
- the creed has made in nyc but I thought this style came out in the 1980's
- number on the creed: 249-9745
- there is a white, almost light blue, line showing around some inside areas that make me think it's becoming unstuck from each other over time or its not authentic. I don't think it was there when I bought it so could be from improper care on my part.

There's no such official style name as Penny Pocket and never has been. It's a seller's mistake that keeps getting repeated.

You said "the creed has made in nyc but I thought this style came out in the 1980's"
Coach bags were ALL Made in NYC up until 1988.
Please read the Salearea Guides thread, the link is in this thread at the top of most pages. I'm not sure where you're getting some of your information but it's not accurate.

That "white line" is supposed to be there, it's where Coach shaved off a thin layer of leather at some seams to make the bags easier to sew.

The bag looks like a genuine Pocket PURSE, style 9755, not Pocket Penny, made in the mid to late 1980s. Here's the catalog page from late 1987:
