Sorry I think I did it wrong...not sure why my post isn't appearing as a new thread - I can't see it. I'm old so...hope this is correct!
Hi Authenticators! Thank you in advance for this free service!! I bought this City Bag on ShopGoodWill.com
Item: Coach City Bag
Listing #: 161923631
Item ID:161923631
Seller: GoodWill San Francisco
Link: https://shopgoodwill.com/item/161923631
measures 11"x8.5"x4" (width, height, depth)
The hardware is not magnetized (does this matter? I noticed the zipper isn't taken into account either in other threads I read). It feels really light (compared to my Patricia bag), and based on the 'LEATHERWARE' in the creed I feel like this bag should be old but it is like brand new. There is a much better picture of the creed patch on the GW site. Thank you!

It's not supposed to appear as a new thread. That's why this thread has 81,260 posts.

It's a genuine City Bag, style 9790 and made between 1990 and 1993.

It doesn't matter if the hardware attracts a magnet. Wherever you're reading these "rules" about how to find if a Coach is genuine, ignore them. Read THIS instead, and don't worry if some of the links don't work any more:

Did Coach have a model#6010? Is this bag authentic and did it have a name? I bought it a while ago and can't find any details on it.

Genuine, and from the 1999 Chelsea line. I've never been able to find the exact style name. It might be a smaller version of the standard size 11x11 Chelsea Hobo but without the outside pockets. Is it smaller than 11x11? Here's the standard style 6003:

Chelsea Hobo Small would be my best guess.

Pretty sure I’ve found a fake and some poor soul has bid on it. It ends in 5 hours. This probably belongs in Hall of Shame — for my future knowledge, should I have posted this there instead? Creed number alone is dead giveaway. Or does tPf prefer we do authentication first? TIA  I just don’t want the person who bid to spend their money on something fake

Item: VINTAGE Sports Coach Bag Cross Body
Listing number: 225495707954
Seller and site where listed: eBay, seller “avi.5lvpkoo”
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/225495707954
Comments: has stamped hardware that says “sports coach”, the creed on inside says 53-054, cartouche is also “Sports Coach”. Can’t even argue that this is a unique brand that just happens to be named Sports Coach, as it has almost every feature common to Coach bags (all imitation though) — hang tag, the dog clips, cartouche on inside with a creed, turn lock, trying to look like a Pocket Purse 9755

"Sports Coach" was an actual Korean company but with absolutely NO connection to Coach LLC. They stole Coach's name and many of their designs, as half a dozen other Korean companies tried to do during the 1990s. As long as the listing describes it ANYWHERE as just "COACH" instead of "SPORTS Coach", it's deceptive, illegal and Significantly Not As Described. It's also against Ebay rules and can be reported.

If the seller had listed the brand name in the Description section as Sports Coach, there wouldn't be a problem.

Coach ended up filing lawsuits in the Korean courts against at least six companies including WAKO and probably Sports Coach inthe late 1990s, but the Korean courts ruled in favor of the Korean companies, surprise surprise. Which could be one of the reasons Coach has NEVER made handbags, wallets or briefcases in Korea and hopefully never will.

Coach did make a small number of clothing items in Korea, but those have also been faked just like almost all Coach's leather goods. Korean fakes makers even faked "Seoul Olympics" items for a year in which there were NO Olympic Games, Summer OR Winter.

This is a gray area. Sports Coach was a company that copied Coach products. Coach sued them but didn't prevail, probably because Sports Coach was a Korean company and had to use the Korean court system.

You can report as misusing a brand name, as in the item specifics they name the brand as Coach.

Wow! Well, today I learned something new. It is a very grey area based on what you have both described. Makes me feel bad for potential buyers who don’t have the background to know that, and don’t think much of the “sports” part of “Sports Coach” so they buy it thinking it is just a “branch” of Coach.

Hello all! Can someone tell me if this is authentic and what it is called? I did a keyword search of this whole thread, both cosmetic case and travel case, but found no previous posts with this exact style. It seems to be early 2000’s and maybe a later version of the Chubby Case without the piped trim?
