You've been getting some incorrect information on coach dates. There are several really inaccurate "authenticity guides" with dating info that's often ten years off that are still kicking around on the internet 10 or 15 years after the information in them had been proved incorrect and that sounds like the nonsense posted in one of them. The seller actually has the correct time period.

"Made in the United States" would NEVER be found in a bag from the 1970s. That creed detail and "United States" wording was only used from 1988 to 1996 at the very latest. The Salearea Guides link that is Stickied to the top of the Coach Shopping index page has correct dating information in the Serial Numbers posts.

We usually would need more photos to identify the bag - the pocket under the flap, and whether it has an outside slip pocket on the back. If there's an outside slip pocket on the back it's probably a Pocket Purse. The seller says that it does.

We're not allowed to comment on pricing, sorry. The best thing to do is to compare it to recent selling prices for Pocket Purses on Ebay.

And BTW there's no such style as a Penny Pocket and never has been. That imaginary name has been applied to everything from Dinkys to Convertible Clutches, but the "Penny" part is completely wrong.
Totally understand on pricing comment, I probably could have asked in a better way (it’s so subjective, it’s all based on what someone is willing to pay and that’s very individual) but also if you are not allowed, I know now not to broach that question

Thanks for clarifying on the dating misinformation. You and others here have been a wealth of information. I feel like I’ve read everything I can but I will make note of what to stop referencing. I will say looking at the reference photos on this site from actual coach catalogs has been super beneficial to me. But the consistent “inconsistency” (the changes throughout Coach history) in serial numbers is what can throw me for a loop sometimes

And THANK YOU for confirming the Penny part isn’t correct. I see it constantly from sellers and I was unable to find any proof of a “Penny Pocket” in the reference catalogs but was able to find style 9755 “Pocket”. Slightly bigger than Dinky but smaller than Convertible Clutch.

Final note — a lot more photos are listed in the eBay link, but I am aware you have been having issues with certain sites. I tried to include a few that pertained to my questions but certainly I understand further authentication would benefit from all the photos (12 total at the link)

I'm pretty sure about it being a Pocket Purse. There's a construction detail that narrows down the field of possible candidates quite a bit, namely the fact that the 2 narrow sides and the base are all a single very long piece of leather with no seams and that's pretty rare on vintage Coaches. Two of the photos you included showed the details.

Not to get off topic here but it actually would probably cost more now than $640

beyond increase of just inflation, for the same kind of quality that vintage Coach has (full-grain, full aniline, overall quality design, handmade by skilled artisans…) we would have to factor in the higher cost of materials, the tannery processes, fair cost of skilled labor, not outsourced, etc. Would not be surprised if it would retail for $1k+ had Coach remained a high quality leatherware company to this day.
True!!

Dear authenticators, hello :flowers:
Could you kindly help me verify if this vintage bag is the real deal?
Item: Vintage Coach Compartment Bag
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: Carousell
Link: Check out 'Auth vintage coach full leather', available at RM380 on #Carousell: https://carousell.app.link/a11Sr3X30xb
Comments: I own several vintage bags from Coach, but have never seen the backside of the turnlock look like the one on this bag (see image 6). Would appreciate your expert opinion. Also, I've asked the seller for a clearer image of the creed. Still waiting for a response.

It looks okay to me. I've never seen that backside either. Maybe it was replaced.

Hello! Would someone be able to authenticate this bag please? Thank you in advance!
