Hi Everyone,

I would appreciate help authenticating a Coach bag.

Item: Patricia Legacy Bag (9951)
Seller: VeryCherriVintage
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1363354769/
Comments:There is no dash in the creed and there is a dash in the creed description? Thank you!

Creeds from different years and plants can have slightly different details and punctuation. It's genuine, from 1996

I like the look of this one but the scratches on the hardware bother me because shouldn't it be brass underneath? I can't tell if it is just a photography issue or if it actually is silver? The creed dates and style look ok, but I don't know enough about it to be comfortable.

As always, thank you for your service!!!!

OMG. Thought I'd share a horror story. (kind of). I bought this Disney bag from shopgoodwill.com and it arrived with horrific ink marks on the inner lining not shown in the sales photos. Either they photo-shopped the original picture, on someone on the shipping end decided to vandalize the bag. I've asked for a return! https://shopgoodwill.com/item/157817896

I wanted a raise a flag on what seems to be a "can't be real so must be counterfeit" situation where I've seen several posts for huge lots of the same keychains. All are metal keychains, but they actually look legitimate to my untrained eye and the biggest flag is that they have many of the same keychain for sale. It's easy to see the pattern when you search for keychains and suddenly see an uptick in specific ones. I know it's possible for one seller to have more than one keychain (I personally often by an extra as a back up so I can have one to use and one to display), but having lots of 20+ across several listings doesn't seem feasible.

I guess I'm looking for validation so I can at least try to report the listings so folks don't get taken, even though it may be futile as there's nothing obvious I'm seeing to point out they are fake.

Here are some examples:

Seller is AmericanResaleCo on Mercari: https://www.mercari.com/us/item/m15408820933/
and americanresale1 on Poshmark: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-keychain-inventory-63c30b0556b2f83f84da4b25
and americanresalecompany on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134334564031?hash=item1f46f6c6bf:g:HZ8AAOSwEPhjn7rR&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA4Au2C8u+iOioqxJTmRJ8geAlgrqVzmfE4txG5XwMfs/tgG60Qe4+kAq0KGqeb+oTzThCNg5JR8HUfMIUFU84Rv5/9clP4cWibO98KVP9eXYSGKMOqHfVYPYoqED/+0QZi0QEQL4o2KBeq/kyLFuxyEhEQdQiU0Ay+liAEh6gBk2RYE3dvEtA+MAVtw/9noINwENxTGpd7g1X8LjLnQdDABKQhm4MgyNrCJ0Q+mNZShfU3SxUxISqRwZWEShDzDE/0MeDTehj6NpDG1t4CwWXiYvBUPC8I5/KIqtoOs3pu030|tkp:BFBMvPSU2bZh

There are plenty more listings of individual listings by different sellers for these same keychain styles, too.

Great example of why you all are always preaching about getting keychains authenticated - individually, these don't set off any alarm bells for me and my untrained eye, but the flooding in the market is suspicious.

ETA another example: seller is blingoriginals on Poshmark: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Keychain-Lot-of-70-For-Resale-ALL-NWOT-63c326438634cb7039fcfe46

Been Burned and I discussed that seller's key chains several months ago.

I had a full paragraph of additional comments to be added to the above post but lost it to a computer glitch. One of those comments referred to another listing by that seller where I stated that I believed the photos he listed in a CURRENT listing for a different keychain also available in multiples had either been stolen by the current seller or provided by whoever sold the fakes to him.

@BeenBurned - can you take a look at:
and if possible open and enlarge the photo that's probably referred to in the "NEW IN BOX" line of the listing? I still can't open any photos. It looks like the printing on the label has been blurred out, but can you make the best copy you can and post it either to this thread or in a PM to me? You'll know what I mean when you see it. (I believe the Gallery photo was originally from a much older listing as well).

Thanks!

ETA - Also take a look at this listing 125490900299 from seller DOUPO70 if you get a chance, there's definitly a hangtag problem.

OH SH!T!! I just had several paragraphs typed and hit the back button by mistake and it all disappeared!

Will start over.

Yikes, there's so much going on here and multiple sellers. I'll try to answer as clearly and concisely as possible to not further confuse the issue.

1. @Bales25 's question: Rhode Island seller americanresale1 on Poshmark, americanresalecompany on Ebay and AmericanResaleCo on Mercari: From what I see of her lot listing on Mercari, the blurry pictures appear to show genuine keychains although many are highly faked. And especially with keychains and highly faked styles, there should be clear, well-focused individual pictures so buyers and authenticators can tell what they're looking at.

2. @Bales25 's second reference: Brockport, NY seller blingoriginals on Poshmark: I didn't go through all her listings but went through a lot of them and they also look good.

3. In December, @Hyacinth and I discussed a Cranston, Rhode Island seller, jmac1998. I looked again at her listings and they look fine to me also.

4. I do have a concern with the seller/sellers in my response #1, americanresale1 / americanresalecompany / and AmericanResaleCo because in at least one of her ebay listings, the listing picture was stolen/borrowed from another seller.
This listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134327124631?hash=item1f46854297:g:Zn8AAOSw-TBjZImj
and
this one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134314855007?hash=item1f45ca0a5f:g:e8kAAOSwgnljZaTI

use pictures that belong to this Chino Hills, CA seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314147877436
The same California seller also sold this BCA keychain with the same pictures used by the various American Resale IDs:

5. @Hyacinth - I don't see any problems with the Breast Cancer Awareness keychain (itself), the tag or the box. Although I don't have my own pictures of the item, I've seen enough of the real deal as well as fakes to ID and compare.

Here are the enlarged pictures.

coach 1734 BCA keychain box_label.pngcoach 1734 BCA keychain tag.png

Bottom line: From what I see and what I've seen in looking at listings, I think Coach may have brought back many older keychains for sale in the outlets (though I haven't witnessed it myself) and that's why we're seeing so many listings.

This is speculation on my part.

But my opinion is that NO SELLER should use pictures taken from other sellers' listings because you (as a buyer) won't be seeing what you'll receive.

I'm surprised to say the least, especially since the sellers all seem to list multiples of the same styles. You think they're remaking even the BCA keychains? I wonder if they still donate a percentage? So if they were acquired at one of the Factory Stores, maybe that means that resellers can buy multiples now.

"OH SH!T!! I just had several paragraphs typed and hit the back button by mistake and it all disappeared!"
Damn,it's contagious! :giggle:

If you ever find out any more details, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again!
