Dear authenticators,

I purchased this off of eBay as a rehab project, just for fun. Could I please get your opinions on this (it does look like it’s missing the key ring, which I’m totally fine with):

Item: multipurpose purse, I think? 7219?

Listing number: 115554732206

Seller and site where listed: dctrading.inc / ebay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/115554732206

Thank you so much!

PROBABLY genuine but the paper card inside the case did NOT come with that item, the card is at least a decade or more newer and cannot be taken as any kind of authenticity confirmation.

I'm not Hyacinth but I agree that it appears authentic. I'd like to see the left side of the case where the chain and keychain were attached. That should definitely have been shown in the listing since it's obvious that something is missing from there even if the seller isn't familiar with the item.

There also may be a "made in" stamp hidden behind the zipper pocket. (I've had this item both with and without made in stamps.)

This is a follow-up to my post from a little while back. The 7219 multifunction purse I got off of eBay showed up in the mail. There was no “made in — “ stamp that I could find, but (per BeenBurned’s suggestion) I took some pics of the side gusset and some of the interior. Authenticators, I’d be interested to know if this confirms your previous opinions?

In any case, it is really a beautifully made little item.

Thanks in advance!

It looks fine and fortunately, the side and grommet are intact so you can attach a keyring or if you're lucky enough to find a chain, you can add that.

I had one of the same items and the grommet was gone and the hole had been ripped so a keychain couldn't even be reattached.

I’m not sure. It was just a member from one of the purse groups I belong to. They messaged me so it wasn’t in the group. I only know they are from a group because I’m not friends with them.
Please return and ask for any Coach to be authenticated via our three knowledgeable Authenticators...they know their stuff and I have learned so much from them. I still get items authenticated via here even if I think its ok as they have to travel to New Zealand and its a bit hard to return a fake bag.

PS...saw you on Instagram

Thank you,BeenBurned. Yeah, even though I don’t plan on attaching anything to the grommet (my bag is heavy enough already), I’m glad that the side is ok. And that you still feel the item is genuine.

I am incredibly impressed that you were able to dig out that photo from your files so quickly. One of these days you must share your file organizing secrets with us mortals.

It is definitely fake. Entrupy only gets it right 50% of the time, like if they tossed a coin. I assume you paid for it with a credit card. Open up a dispute with your credit card company.
Thank you. It is completely infuriating.

The fact that this is the first time I’ve ever purchased / bid on an item on Shopgoodwill tells me that place is not trust worthy.

Not only that, the fact that they can give me the complete run around and insist that I contact Entrupy to file a complaint is even worse.

The only people who can file a claim with Entrupy are the ones who paid them to authenticate an item.

I honestly can’t believe that a company like Goodwill/Shopgoodwill can get away with these kinds of horrific business practices.

You shouldn't have to contact Entrupy as you are not their client. Goodwill is their client and you are Goodwill's client. Goodwill should make it right by you and deal with them.

The "guarantee" between Entrupy and Goodwill makes Goodwill responsible for filing any claims. The eventual retail buyers have no protection at all from Entrupy, they have to file a complaint or claim through GW.

Here's the

"Entrupy Financial Guarantee"

Entrupy aims to ensure that our customers only deal in authentic items. We stand behind the Entrupy Certificate, and the authenticity of any item certified by Entrupy is backed by a one-year Financial Guarantee.

If you believe that an Entrupy verified item may not be authentic, please open a dispute request per our formal process detailed below. Once your dispute request is approved, we will complete the dispute process as promptly as possible, typically within ten (10) business days after the disputed item is received by Entrupy.

For the purposes of the financial guarantee, Entrupy reserves a window of 15 minutes during Entrupy business hours (10AM to 7PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays), to invalidate authentication results and certificates. The financial guarantee may not be claimed for these items.

Entrupy Dispute Process:

  1. Within the Entrupy app, mark the item in question for a Dispute.
  2. Complete the Financial Guarantee Application Form with all required information and documents. You will be informed of potential Dispute Fees that may be incurred and the Financial Guarantee Payments that may be due to you, per the dispute findings.
  3. The Entrupy team will reach out to you to inform you if the claim form has been provisionally accepted, or if further information is required.
  4. If the Financial Guarantee Application Form has been provisionally accepted, we will supply you with a shipping label for you to ship the item to us.
  5. During a Dispute, our team will re-authenticate the item. We will also have the item authenticated by one, or multiple, reputable independent experts, depending on the claim value of the item being disputed.
    • If the Dispute confirms that Entrupy had correctly assessed the item as Authentic, you will be charged Dispute Fees (per below Table 2) and we will ship the item back to you.
    • If the Dispute confirms that Entrupy had incorrectly assessed the item as Authentic, Entrupy will issue a Financial Guarantee Payment to you (per below Table 1). Entrupy will retain possession of the item if a payment on the claim is made.
The chart below summarizes the outcomes of the Entrupy Dispute process:

Entrupy Dispute FindingsOutcome
Authenticity re-confirmed
  • You will be charged Dispute Fees, per below Table 2.
  • Entrupy will ship the item back to you.
Authenticity not confirmed
  • Entrupy will make a Financial Guarantee Payment to you, per below Table 1.
  • Entrupy will retain possession of the item.
Additional information:

Who can open a dispute and claim the Financial Guarantee?

  • Entrupy’s direct customers may claim the Financial Guarantee for items authenticated with their own Entrupy account and displaying their name on the Entrupy Certificate, for which they have a proof of purchase in their name. Only the Certificate Holder, as listed on the Entrupy certificate, may open a dispute.
  • The Certificate holder must have ownership of the disputed item at the time of the dispute.
Can I transfer the Financial Guarantee to another party?

  • Currently Entrupy Certificates and the Financial Guarantee may not be transferred to any third parties.
How long is the Financial Guarantee valid?

  • The Financial Guarantee is valid to Entrupy’s direct customers for a period of one year from the original authentication result. It is not extendable for periods beyond one year.
What is covered by the Financial Guarantee Payment?

  • We will request documentation from you to substantiate proof of procurement and the price that you paid for the item.
  • We will compare the price that you paid for the item against the prevailing market rate for items of similar style, age and condition, by referencing publicly available sources. If the documented purchase price is significantly higher than the prevailing market rate, we reserve the right to pay the lower market value.
  • For international customers: shipping costs to send the item to Entrupy, as agreed upon in advance, are covered.
  • No other fees, charges, or costs associated with the item are covered. Any costs incurred by the Certificate Holder or their customers, including other shipping and third party authentication services, are expressly not covered by the Financial Guarantee.
  • For transactions in foreign currency (non-USD), the Financial Guarantee will be paid in local currency when possible or at the exchange rate at time of payment.
How does the Financial Guarantee apply to consignment or marketplace sales?

  • Entrupy will pay 100% of the value of any commissions paid or due to your consignor, in respect of the final sale of an Entrupy authenticated item to an end-customer.
  • We will request documentation from you to substantiate proof of consignment, customer sale and payout to your consignor.
  • You must have rights over the bag. If the consigner still has claim to the item, it cannot be disputed.
What counts as Proof of Purchase

  • A Proof of purchase must demonstrate clearly the amount claimed, identify the item being disputed as being the item related to said payment, and show that the party making the payment is the Certificate Holder.
  • This may be a combination of documents that may include, but is not limited to:
    • A purchase receipt
    • A loan agreement
    • A consignment contract
Entrupy initially issued an Authentic result for this item, but it is now showing to be Unknown. Can I claim a Financial Guarantee?

  • In rare circumstances, Entrupy may change the authentication result for an item, and we will immediately notify you in such cases.
  • For the purposes of the Financial Guarantee, Entrupy reserves a window of 15 minutes during Entrupy business hours (10AM to 6PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays), to invalidate authentication results and certificates. The Financial Guarantee may not be claimed for these items.
How is the Financial Guarantee paid?

  • Financial Guarantee Payments are made via wire transfer.
Can I challenge the findings of the Dispute process?

  • The findings of the Entrupy Dispute process are final.
Table 1: Entrupy Financial Guarantee Payments:

Reactions: Tilis
My worry would be that authenticity would be reconfirmed and my dispute would be denied. Clearly, entrupy isn't accurate, isn't updating their data so algorithms repeatedly make the same mistakes and large retailers (such as Goodwill) don't even contact Entrupy in cases of errors, making it impossible for Entrupy to make its AI more accurate!

There is no way I would eat this loss, @splurgeworthy ! Both Goodwill AND Entrupy need to be made aware of the errors they are making.

ETA: Negative comments will likely be removed but hopefully, TPTB might still read up on the issues. (Perhaps links to some of the errors across various brands might open their eyes.)
Facebook:
For Goodwill, I don't know if the corporation has a Facebook page. It looks like various regions and groups have pages, but the "higher ups" need to be made aware of the issues.

I did find these but they seem to be Boston locations:
