Hi,
Can someone please help me.. I have next to no idea about handbags but have just been given a Coach one (hasn't been used but a couple of tiny blemishes from storage) wondering how to check it is actually genuine, and if it is worth anything? I'm in the UK and struggling to find much information about it!
From what I can see searching this thread, I think it is a Soho Leather Pocket Tote (8a09) but can someone please verify if it is actually genuine for me?

I've taken photos of the bits I assume verify it. Plus it also has YKK on the inside zipper.

Many Thanks in advance!

I can't work out how to reply with a quote! but thanks for the reply to say it is genuine!
Is my information correct about it being a Soho Tote bag? Also, I saw somewhere you can tell how old the bags are from some of the serial numbers - is that possible with the serial number on mine?
Thanks again!

To Quote the post you're replying to, just click the Quote button at the bottom of that post.

You have the correct name, it's a Soho Leather Pocket Tote made in 2005. The Salearea Coach Guides especially the ones on Creeds and on Serial Numbers posted at Ebay can explain how to read Coach's production codes in bags made after 1994:

BTW, zippers stamped YKK prove absolutely NOTHING about whether a Coach is genuine. There's an entire Salearea Coach Guide just on the "YKK zipper myth", as well as a mention in the Salearea Guide to Authenticity Guides and also in my Signature at the bottom of all my posts.

Hello Everyone

Just wondering if this one is authentic:

Item: Authentic Vintage COACH Leathers Large Shoulder Bag #G7H-4921
Listing number: 171840757099
Seller: ludoed26
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-Vintage-COACH-Leathers-Large-Shoulder-Bag-G7H-4921-/171840757099?

Doesn't look right to me as a newbie....

Thank you as always!
Hi Everyone

I reported this fake 4921 to Ebay on June 29. It was never removed & luckily didn't sell. (See other June 29 comments about this seller ludoed26 )

Now it's been relisted as Ebay # 171848799692!!! I just reported it again - could one of you kindly also report?

Thanks!!

I think it looks off too. The creed almost looks carved, with sharp edges. I've seen this look on vintage fakes. Every authentic Legacy creed I've seen is a lot less distinct.

The creed doesn't match creeds from the same plant, even from the same collection and same color, like this one made several months later: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NWT-COACH-2...794?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2801d81b32
Hi - Just a little input!
I don't know about the creed or anything, but I wanted to comment on the edge-kote.

I recently acquired and sold a Coach Kristin bag and when I got it the edging was very sloppy, the black coating was messy and overlapped onto more of the strap than it should have, and not evenly either. Because of the texture, a little rubbery, I was able to scrape it off using a blunt file.
If you look at the listing you can see a close up photo of the strap but that is what it looked like AFTER I fixed it. I wish I had photos to show you before but it was a mess...and not something that the previous owner did, it looked like a sloppy original job.
This is the listing
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-KRIST...o-Cross-Body-Handbag-23047-/201365803399?rd=1
PS - and the scraped off parts were very fine, like metal shavings and look llike what is sprinkled on the creed on the Penny bag

PPS - Actually if you look at the 12th photo you can see some of the residue on the right side
of the picture, I wasn't 100% perfect in removing it.

Coach discontinued stamped serial numbers last year. The only way now to find the style number and date codes now other than on the price tag is to look for a very small white tag that's usually sewn deep inside the inside pocket.

It may not be the DUMBEST thing Coach has ever done, but it's certainly in the Top Three. :pout:
I AGREE!!
And to top it off they have used some of the toughest, fine-textured leather on the creeds (like the saffianos) and the print is way too tiny and totally illegible.
If I did not know better I would think a lot of them were fakes.
Quite a few sellers :sad:have been hit with FAKE Coach disputes because of this monstrous decision by Coach.http://forum.purseblog.com//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/extension/
