I don't know about the creed or anything, but I wanted to comment on the edge-kote.

I recently acquired and sold a Coach Kristin bag and when I got it the edging was very sloppy, the black coating was messy and overlapped onto more of the strap than it should have, and not evenly either. Because of the texture, a little rubbery, I was able to scrape it off using a blunt file.
If you look at the listing you can see a close up photo of the strap but that is what it looked like AFTER I fixed it. I wish I had photos to show you before but it was a mess...and not something that the previous owner did, it looked like a sloppy original job.

PS - and the scraped off parts were very fine, like metal shavings and look llike what is sprinkled on the creed on the Penny bag

PPS - Actually if you look at the 12th photo you can see some of the residue on the right side
of the picture, I wasn't 100% perfect in removing it.

I've seen messed up edgekote on some older bags. I'm wondering if it could have melted, rather than was done that way originally.

And to top it off they have used some of the toughest, fine-textured leather on the creeds (like the saffianos) and the print is way too tiny and totally illegible.
If I did not know better I would think a lot of them were fakes.
Quite a few sellers :sad:have been hit with FAKE Coach disputes because of this monstrous decision by Coach.

Some of my more recent creeds are illegible. The letters all run together. From what I've seen the creed patches are getting smaller, and in some cases, they've done away with the patch altogether and just printed it on the lining.

I doubt Coach cares one bit that resellers are being accused of selling fakes.

I wouldn't put it past them that that's WHY they did it! They hate resellers ans prefer that every buy directly from them. What better way to force it than to make people think resellers have fakes?

And it's just one more way for Coach to cut corners and save a few pennies on production costs. I don't know if it's the new management doing it or if it started under the old regime, but their priorities have gotten so COMPLETELY F***ED UP in the last year that I seriously doubt if I'll ever buy a new bag from them again.

Please ask the seller for a picture of the FULL creed, even if there's no serial number. And if there's no serial number, ask for additional pictures of any labels/tags from inside the bag and inside the bag's pocket.

Whether she's stretching the truth or not about the condition I don't know but without a full creed, I don't think it can be authenticated.

It's strange because her other listings show full creeds with serials but this one doesn't.

Please request another picture.

I got it for a good price & I'm happy w/ the bag..I have a Flight Bag so I knew how beautiful& thick these leather bags are BUT! seller never mentioned that the inside pocket(where creed is stamped if falling off on the one side..it needs to be restiched!UGH! I checked the listing, nothing mentioned, then thought maybe she didn't notice, but there are 2 pics of the creed, so she must have gotten the pocket to stay flat somehow(scotch tape?) because it won't stay up on its own. Just thought I would mention that..I don't want to return her, but its INAD , not that bif of a deal so I won't call it SNAD, I also purchased &paid 27 June, it arrived 6July..not exactly fast shipping especially as label was printed June 29...After I get authentication I will write seller with my OPINION.

Genuine.

Enlarging the picture by mousing over it shows the missing thread and also that the remaining thread on the left side seems to be darker than the rest, so I'm wondering if the lower side of the pocket was already restitched once?

Unfortunately too many sellers figure that showing just a photo of a problem area without any explanation in the description absolves them from responsibilty if the buyer doesn't notice or understand the problem and isn't happy when they get the item.

Just another reason why everyone should use a full-feature full-size computer rather than a smartphone or tablet when buying online. Too many smaller electronic browsers simply don't show enough detail in the posted photos or don't allow them to be enlarged so the buyer can make solid buying decisions..

The creed stamping is also a bit "puffy" and it shouldn't be, and sometimes that indicates a Chinese-made fake. The metal feet on the bottom aren't spaced exactly alike either, but Coaches weren't always perfect.

The creed stamp also looks like it's too low on the pocket.

If you are up for it you could try writing to the seller and expressing your dismay and proposing a partial refund. I did that once when I bought a bag that was listed as "New with tags" but actually had a few light scuffs, a light water mark and some edge wear (it was a light colored nubuc bag). While I wasn't unhappy enough to return it, I wouldn't have paid as much for something that wasn't really new or at least unused. The seller probably wasn't happy but she was polite and refunded me somewhere around $12 or $14 (I can't remember) but essentially the cost of shipping that she would have had to pay if I had claimed SNAD and sent it back to her. With the reduction I felt better about the price vs condition and left the seller a positive review.
