Hi Authenticators! I found this Patricia's Legacy bag on FB Marketplace. Love my brown one, so thought I'd pick this one up in black. I didn't put the link because it is in a private selling group on FB. Wondering if it is authentic? Here are the sellers details:

"COACH Legacy Patricia bag 9951 Beautiful black smooth leather Made in 2000 Costa Rica Restored price $495 (Coach) No. J1P-9951 Adjustable strap with top zipper closure/fold over flap and outer full slip pocket Brass hardware 8 x 11"

Thank you!

Comments: I cannot read the creed, I emailed them 4 days ago for a clear photo and they never responded. I think that is a bit shady, I am not bidding on it, but I wondered if I should report it, even though I cannot clearly see the creed. Thank you for your time.

Yes, it is from Entrupy, and thank you for the links, sorry to have bothered you with this, I should have searched.

No need to apologize. I hope you can understand why situations like this and the 300 dollar fake that GW knowingly sold just a day or two ago require more than just the usual vigilance. And that a COA is only as trustworthy as the people behind it.

NEVER report something as fake unless one of the authenticators confirms it. If absolute proof isn't available, DON'T REPORT. Why would you accuse someone of a serious rule violation AND a felony without proof?

Copy and post the seller's creed photo here.

And if a seller won't supply a legible photo, FIND ANOTHER SELLER.

I won't report, you are absolutely right about having proof. This is the only photo of the creed, as I mentioned you cannot read it.

Hello, please help with a very sensitive situation...

First, let me say that the item I'm trying to authenticate is not a lot of money, but it's a style that I just love to carry when i vacation so I want to make sure it's authentic. From my little knowledge, i looked over all photos before purchasing and it looked ok; but i see an issue now that i have it in my hands.

I purchased from a seller whom I think is an authenticator here; this is the sensitive part. The sell site doesn't allow for msg communication between buyer and seller so I don't want to post any comments that the world can see if this item happens to be real; I just need another authenticators opinion. The issue is with the inside coloring shown in the picture.

Thanks so much for the hand holding...im feeling a little bummed right now.

It's a genuine Kit Bag made in 1995. If you have a question or concern about condition for the seller you need to contact them. If you're referring to the white areas along the seams, Coach usually shaved off a few layers of dyed leather along the seams of vintage bags to make them easier to sew.

More opinions are welcome.

ALL Coach serial numbers with a J8H- prefix are Fake - NO EXCEPTIONS

There are other problems, but a search here at tPF for "Coach J8H" would have answered your question. There are a dozen PAGES of links, 20 links per page, to posts here at tPF that mention that prefix:

And just for the record, we raked Goodwill over the coals just in the last 48 hours for selling a fake with the same always-fake prefix for more than $300 US after REPEATEDLY being told the bag and serial number were fake and Entrupy's "COA" wasn't worth the paper it was printed on, which is a fairly common problem with their Coach "authentications". Start here and continue into the next page.

I no longer recommend buying from Goodwill.

Just out of curiosity, is the COA from Entrupy?

Yes, it is from Entrupy, and thank you for the links, sorry to have bothered you with this, I should have searched.

Here's the certificate.

I agree that it's fine.

1, 2 and 4 are authentic. I can't read the number for #3.

Even enlarging and lightening up the photo doesn't help.

If a seller doesn't know enough about Coach products to know the importance of clear photos and enough detailed photos to authenticate a Coach properly, it's much safer to just keep looking, especially when the seller doesn't specialize in handbags. If they're not willing to make an effort NOW to satisfy the customer, how much help do you think they'll be if you have a problem once they already have your money?

That seller should stick to ball bearings.

I also tried enlarging the photo and lightening it and nothing. I feel bad if it is fake for the person that bid on it, on that same note it can be genuine as well, we will never know. Thank you for all you do, I really appreciate it. Have a great day.
