OK, time to start begging for your expertise:smile1:

A coworker has offered to sell me a purse she has not used in a loooong time, a vintage one, so before I say "I do" let me know if I should, please.
It says Made in Costa Rica Numbers are F1P-9713 and it is (I guess) 12x7x3.

If you need more pictures I will be able to get more, she knows I am asking here. If I am doing something wrong in the way I am asking, please correct me. ;)

It's authentic but not vintage. Vintage is considered to be 20+ years old. This bag was made in 2001 so it has 6 years before being vintage.

The bag is authentic and it is vintage and it is leather. I'm sure the problem is that it is a Lightweight. I had a similar problem with a Sheridan. Won't ebay require proof from a paid authenticator?

I always look at your listings when I encounter a style I'm unfamiliar with. I've learned a lot from you!
OMG - This is a SIN!!
How can someone leave feedback like that, it is ridiculous.
She could bring it to a shoemaker to validate it is leather to begin with.
Regarding COLOR, that is not a valid reason for feedback...
geez - cocoa, brown, chocolate, a gazillion words to describe the shade!
I am ranting a bit but this really gets my goat.

Got it! Looks like many sellers in Ebay do not know what vintage is either, LOL

Thanks for your reply, I really thank you. I will buy the bag, I do not care how old it is, it's pretty (IMO) and I think that following the techniques some of you use at the Rehab forum, I will be able to make it look gorgeous, at least I am not afraid to try. ;)

It is authentic. The leather on the very early bags was different than the leather they used later. I think the leather was thinner. I don't know if they feel the way they do because of age or because the leather they used was inferior. Several of my very early bags look pebbled. I don't know if it was there from the beginning or developed over time.

The zipper pull is the original one. These are very rare. They look like paper clips.
Thank Whateve. I was certain that if the bag was authentic, the zipper pull was a replacement. I had planned to replace it, I'm so glad you told me it was original and rare! I'll give her a bath and some leather therapy conditioner.

It's a beautiful style that appeals to vintage lovers.

You're welcome! I was afraid you were going to replace the zipper pull!

Welcome to the forum! You are in good hands here, the expert ladies are very nice and of course knowledgeable, they helped me out in many occasions.

I have a bag like this in camel color, although mine is smaller and I remember the chat at the time I got it, because nobody knew that the key hood was, and how to attach it. It was given a very fancy word, that now I can not recall. It's been a while since I had the chance to participate.

... and the style was called a Penelope Satchel

Coach usually calls it a "key hood". Many of the French and Italian design houses like LV and I think Fendi, Prada and Chanel among others call it a "clochette" which I think translates as "little bell".
