ITEM: 9927 - Willis Bag
COLOR: Navy Blue
FULL SERIAL: R8B-9927

I purchased this purse at a rummage sale for $1. It feels like genuine Coach leather from the 90's and smells of it as well. I was trying to authenticate and noticed that the rule of thumb for serial numbers states that the first letter represents the month the bag was created and with that in mind, a serial number starting with "R" wouldn't be an actual month and therefore, must be fake. Are there any scenarios with this bag that an "R" may have been used? I've seen several fakes in my life, and this one just seems too real, and too old to be fake. Would love the expertise of this group. Thank you!

@whateve so nice to have you back! :hugs:

I was waiting to post this bag I got a little while ago because I was told you have more experience with the pre-creed items:

seller: modandvintageclassics
Link:

Comments: Is there a name for this style? Can I get a year estimate? Any info at all would be greatly appreciated . Better pic of the coach stamp below.

Unfortunately, it's fake.

And nothing is "too old" to be fake!

I found this bag at a goodwill near me - I'm really curious if it's authentic or fake! It's the rambler style.

It's authentic. I have it in my files as Three Frame Shoulder Tote from 1969.

Curious if this is real or fake, as a search revealed this seller has listed several wanna-be's in the past. Thank you!

Item: AUTH VINTAGE BLACK LEATHER COACH B7D-5291 Case Briefcase Attache w Strap USA
Listing number: 203992056222
Seller: jerseygirl2009

It's authentic. Note that the seller copied the month code as B in several places in the listing. It's F, meaning made in June, 1997, not February.

Welcome back @whateve. I would appreciate it if you could have a look. I found it a few weeks back at a local vintage shop. You were away, then I was away…. It’s approximately 11”x 10”x3/4” Thanks in advance.
