Here is the second bag, which is a brown one:

Dimensions:
10.5” wide
10” tall
2” wide at the side top of the bag tapering out to 3.5” wide at the side bottom of the bag
Strap is 41.5” long tapering from 1” at the buckles to 5/8” at the center of the strap.

Hi Authenticators! I’m so humbled by your generous gift of time, knowledge, and experience that you give to this form. Thank you so much! I am a Coach bag newbie, so I would greatly appreciate your expertise in authenticating these bags. I just bought 3 different ones, but am posting 2 now that I think are real (and the third one I think is fake and may post it later to confirm with others since I still have so much to learn) but hoping you could authenticate.

This blue one I found at a local Goodwill store and sparked a fire for vintage Coach bags:
Its dimensions I measured:

9.25” tall from top the bag to the floor, or 10.5” from top to bottom seam
9.5” wide at the top, 12” from side seam to side seam at the bottom of the bag
4” width at the side of the bag
11” drop from top of the handles to top of the bag
25.75” strap length
9” from metal to metal hinge

The J8Y fake prefix seems to pop up rather frequently if I'm not mistaken?

I finally made up sort of a "mnemonic phrase" to help me avoid J8Y bags. It goes "A JOY bag will never bring joy!"

It's not quite right but it reminds me to avoid bags with "J" and "Y" in the prefix!

We see quite a few of that prefix.

A lot of fake prefixes start with J, but so do a lot of genuine ones with valid plant codes. But J8Y- and J8H- are always fake. J8P- can be either, depending on what country and plant code were stamped. The few we've found with P plant codes saying they were made in Costa Rica are genuine.

I need help with verifying this Coach. I bought it at a thrift store. It doesn’t have the normal Coach look to me so I thought it was worth researching. All signs point to it being authentic. The Creed looks good and even the metal hardware is stamped Coach. The leather is of good quality. No cracking. But no matter how much searching I do I can’t find anything attached to that style number. That is the only thing that I question if it’s real. If it is a fake someone put a lot of work in to make it seem real. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is it, but it looks pretty close - Chelsea Inlaid Perforated Leather Emerson Satchel, from the July 24, 2011 Wayback pages, about 1/4 of the way down the page under Satchels And Carryalls. It would help to see a complete, stuffed and upright photo of the bag in question :

Keep in mind - having most of the hardware stamped "COACH"doesn't mean a thing. If fact, the older the bag is the less stamped hardware it should have. Stamped hardware on classic and vintage bags can be a serious red flag. Older Coaches made before the later 1990s usually had no stamped hardware at all, and only a handful might have "Coach" stamped on the buckles but nowhere else.
