The serial number prefix J8Y- is always fake and was never used by Coach, the Y plant code was ONLY used briefly in a Chinese plant in or around 2006. Sorry.

Hello,
I was at my local Goodwill and saw a Swagger. It is new with tags. However, some of the tags are in an Asian language so I am confused. Could you authenticate this for me? If it is real, I will go back to get it. Thank you.

I'm NOT an expert in newer bags so wait for @BeenBurned.

BUT - did you check the inside pocket for a tag with the production codes? The price tag isn't attached the same way as bags bought directly from Coach are attached. "...finestmaterials" in the creed is all one word. The other fabric tags are odd, and so are the paper tags. The stamping on the patch is really rough even allowing for the textured leather and it almost looks like "commitment" is missing a letter.

I'm going to suggest that you don't make any trips back to that store until you hear from @BeenBurned. I think there's a very good reason that bag is still on the shelf.

And if both the photos of the white paper tag are of the SAME tag, it's definitely fake. No production codes or style number or color codes or Coach identification number OR UPC. Nothing.

Thank you, Hyacinth. I looked at the creed after your comments and I agree that "commitment" appears to be missing an 'i'. I looked inside the inner pocket- no tag with production codes. Also, both photos of the white paper tag are the same. I will wait to hear from BeenBurned. I am not comfortable with that bag. I told the clerk at Goodwill that I thought it was counterfeit and should be looked over. She agreed and put it back in the case. There was a wallet to match. Together that would be $75. I hope no one buys it without doing their due diligence.

You also have to ask yourself "if someone bought it and didn't use it, why not just return it to Coach for a refund? Why donate it to GW?"

Inside tags, price tags, and other Coach production information tags and labels are pretty much the same around the world no matter where the bag was sold.

Messenger Bag
I picked it up from a thrift store
