Dear authenticators,
Item: I'm not sure if this is a penny pocket - I'm thinking it is from the mid to late 70's.
Listing number:
Seller and site where listed: poshmark
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintag...n-Lock-Crossbody-Bag-622e2b7e446e598686b0e238
Comments: no open back pocket. I'm confused by the corners at the bottom of the bag since they are stitched and have that puckered effect, but everything else looks and feels authentic to me, but I'm not positive since this is my first 70s bag acquisition (at least based on what I think it is!). Strap is not adjustable.

Thank you so much!

There is no such thing as a penny pocket. This is an authentic convertible clutch. It was made in the late 70s or 80s. These normally came with a strap too short for crossbody but a crossbody strap could be substituted.

There are a ton of formatting mistakes in the early years of the alpha-numeric serial numbers which started in 1994, many of them have the digits in the serial prefix partly or completely rearranged. This one might have been meant to be M4C- so first you have to figure out if they're in the correct order.

"M" was a vaild month code but in the early days even INvalid codes like "N" could sometimes slip in. Valid codes by themselves can't prove that an item is authentic.

If I haven't already suggested that you read the six Salearea Guides posted and Pinned to the top of every page here in the Authenticate forum, I'm going to suggest it now. Reading them more than once, every month or so, is a very good idea. I also suggest reading the Daria48 Fake Coach Serial Numbers List right after them.

The bag is a genuine City Bag made in 1994.
Thank you Hyacinth. I appreciate your time. I have read and will reread.
