Coach bag from 1970s? See pics inserted below.
I'm helping an older friend potentially sell this online and would love some experts to help me identify it! I'm pretty sure it's authentic. Owner says that it was her mother's symphony bag - she only ever used it when she went to see the symphony play. So sweet!
Owner thinks mother got it from 1970-75 and purchased for around $60 during that time!
Creed No 031-5809
Made in USA
Bag is approximately 10 inches wide, 9 inches tall
No closures except for the belt parts on the strap
No tags, but a very old Nordstrom pocket mirror was found funnily enough.
I've been trying to research, but haven't found any Coach bags similar to this online. If anyone can tell me where I can figure out pricing, that would be appreciated, too. Sorry I didn't see this sooner. This style is so hard to find! I love it! It's an organizer pouch #9645. The only catalog I have with it is dated 1978. I don't think they made it very long. We can't advise on pricing.

Dear Authenticators, I would like your help in authenticating these 2 court bags.
Item: Red and Black Court Bag
Where purchased or how obtained : Local thrift store
Comments: I bought the red one last month and the black one today. I just realised that the pipings of both bags were sewn differently (Picture 2,3,8 and 9) I have never own a court bag before and was so ecstatic finding these two.
The creed for the red reads B1P 9870 made in Costa Rica.
The creed for the black reads B0N 9870. The text is not so clear but I can read faintly Mexico with a torchlight.
Btw, the black court comes with no strap.
Thank you in advance.

The red one looks like it has mold damage. That should be treated as soon as possible to avoid more damage.

Hello, all. I'd be grateful for your input on a few bags from a mixed lot I bought from a Goodwill auction recently. I bought the lot for the vintage all-leather bags in it, one of which I knew was a fake the moment I had my hands on it. (The other, my main motivation for buying the lot, is good—hooray!) Before I try to clean up and list somewhere or even give away one of these three newer bags, I'd need to feel good about their authenticity and be able to identify them properly. Beyond a basic checking of serial numbers, I wouldn't know where to begin. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks again.
All three look good. The first is a Gallery tote. The second one is a MFF Legacy Ali and the third is a Madison op art Maggie.

Brilliant. Thanks so much!

I also wanted to thank you for your input a while back on hang tags—I totally missed that you and @BeenBurned had replied to @Hyacinth on that until I logged in again to ask about these. I so appreciate all three of you weighing in there. That'll be so helpful! Apologies for any seeming ingratitude in my lack of earlier response! Take care.

Hello Authenticators!

I recently purchased a vintage Coach shopper on Ebay prior to doing proper research (newbie mistake). Upon arrival, I noticed a few things were off with it and I don't believe it's a genuine Coach product. If you would be so kind as to take a look and authenticate I would really appreciate the help! Thanks!

Item: Vintage Coach Shopper Tote 9090
Listing number: 125186789062
Seller and site where listed: pusifer12 on Ebay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/125186789062
Comments: The bag appears to be a really nice thick leather with a genuine looking creed stamp and style code. I researched style codes starting with J8Y and they come up as always fake... Also, the straps only have 3 not the usual 4 grommets I see on genuine styles and the finish of them is not on par with my other Coach bags. The interior zip pocket zipper and hang tag also look suspect.

You are correct. The bag is fake.

Open a NAD (not as described) return request and choose the not authentic option. pusifer12 will have to provide a prepaid return shipping label if she wants the fake back and once delivered back to her, you should get the refund of your full payment. If the seller doesn't issue it, you can escalate for ebay to release the money to you.

Welcome to TPF and sorry for the bad news.

Thank you so much for your response! :) That info is much appreciated. There seem to be a lot of "How To"s online about Coach bags... I want to get the best possible profit for my older friend, but I'm afraid my lack presence and experience as an online seller will not fetch the best price. I'm thinking getting an Authenticity Certificate might be worth it?

In my opinion, a COA isn't a worthwhile investment on an item like you case. The company I use is among the least expensive and most accurate but at $7.50, unless an item has a serious anomaly that makes it questionable or unless it's a highly faked luxury brand (LV, Chanel, Hermes, etc.), I don't think it's worth it.

More important is a detailed listing with a good title (appropriate key words, style number, name, etc.) and good, clear, well-focused pictures with closeups of the creed and serial number and a good description. For used items, describe and show pictures of areas of wear, discoloration and mention any odors.

ETA: If you ever do need a professional authentication, check here for recommendations. Some companies make a lot of mistakes, some companies use one or 2 "authenticators" to do multiple brands, thereby being a jack of all trades, master of none and some companies use artificial intelligence. I want a company that has brand specialists - different authenticators for different brands, each of whom knows that brand.
