I am new here, (a friend recommended this site), and as a newbie to Coach bags, although I like more the vintage ones, if that makes sense LOL, I see how fast you ladies help each other with questions of authenticity.
Gosh I am so relieved! I bought two "lemons" a few months ago, serves me well... when a deal is too good to be true... you know the rest, so I didn't know if to keep risking it, now I see that I will be in good hands from now on, I will start the search for my wishes :smile1:
I hope not to become a pest, I noticed on some posts mentions to "guides" that are recommended to acquire some knowledge, I will read them for sure.

Thanks in advance to all of you.

You are welcome! I'm sure I was a "pest" when I first came here and everyone was very patient with me. I think most of us discovered this site after we had already been fooled by a fake. Even if you read the guides, it is still a good idea to get everything authenticated. The guides will help you spot the obvious fakes, but for others, you need someone who is very familiar with Coach, the era, and the individual style. Coach keeps evolving and things that were true at one time may no longer be true. Some of the guides on the Internet aren't kept updated or always had incorrect information, so you should stick to the guides we recommend.

Hi!
Wondering if I could get an opinion on this bag:
ebay seller ensono-2014
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-tan...504?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3f449f8c68
Also wondering if anyone would be willing to give an opinion about the price; is it reasonable for a potential made in NYC "Willis" bag?
Is the color inside typically that much lighter than the outside?

There's another on ebay:
seller: galaxieperformance
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Signa...002?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item338dc1908a
Would Coach send a replacement D ring?

1. We don't comment on price. It isn't necessarily a NYC bag - it was made in the US when there was more than one plant. It was made in the early 90s. I don't think the inside is really that much lighter than the exterior - it is just from variations in lighting and exposure. It is authentic.

2. I'd like to wait for Hyacinth's opinion about authenticity.
In the past, Coach would probably replace the ring. They recently changed their policies so I don't know if they would now.

Both are genuine, made about a year apart. The outside color is usually a bit lighter than the inside, and if the leather has been conditioned the color would have darkened a bit more.

Coach probably won't replace the D ring since the bag is 20 years old. You can buy replacement rings from a few Ebay sellers like Sliver-coach.

There are many Willises listed on Ebay. You may want to look at more listings before making a final decision. Just be sure to have them authenticated here before bidding since the Willis was often faked.

Thanks, you two! I will keep looking!

You can find information on how to decode most Coach year codes in the Salearea Guides.
http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea_W0QQcpnameZmembersQQprZsaleareaQQuqtZg

If I had my druthers those would be required reading for anyone posting to the forums, but of course I'm a bit biased. :D

Those combination number-and-letter style numbers are the oddballs though, 2005 was the only year Coach used that format. The year code in the prefix still follows the usual rules.

Pricing information sometimes can be found in catalogs, listing photos that still show the original price tag, or if you get lucky, on the Coach.com pages of the Wayback Machine.

Thank you Hyacinth. The Wayback Machine is something I need to bookmark. Looks like my bag was made in 2005. Learning still and those links helped in me endless dead end searches on Google.
