genuine Crescent Bag, probably early 1980s

genuine Mini Shopper, 1996

Hi all, I suspect that I purchased a fake (serial number wasn't visible in the listing, won't make that mistake again). I'm including additional pictures below, the serial number inside the bag does not match the listing.

site: ebay
seller: ireneludwik
item: Coach Bag 9620

One of the reasons we require seller IDs is so potential buyers can search the seller's name and see if there's a history, either good or bad.

Had you checked on #2, Etsy laur100, you would have seen the long history, both on Etsy and on ebay. (In fact, ebay must have decided that there were too many fakes and laur100 (2869) is NARU.

I'm confused - what number in the listing are you looking at?

If it's 9620, that's the CORRECT style number of the bag. Before you start thinking something's fake, you had better do some research into Coach's system of serial numbers, because there's NOTHING wrong with that bag. But instead of going into a long explanation, I'm going to STRONGLY suggest that you carefully and thoroughly read the six Salearea Guides posted here at tPF, especially the two devoted to serial numbers and creeds. If you don't, you're going to keep on making embarrassing or expensive mistakes.

Start here:

I REALLY hope you haven't already contacted the seller because you think the bag is fake. Because it's a genuine Compact pouch from the early 1990s.

You're right about one thing though. If a style is supposed to have a serial number, you shouldn't buy it unless you can clearly read the number and the creed stamp.

Hi, can someone check if my bag is authentic? I got it from eBay 10ish years ago. Thank you.

Got it, will always check seller histories before posting here and will avoid this seller. Thank you
