Comments: I just received this bag and am not sure if it is authentic. It makes a squeaking sound when you rub the leather (it also smells like saddle soap so maybe that is the cause), it feels very heavy, and the raw side feels different than my other bags.

It's a genuine Legacy Zip made in 1997.

Hangtags separated from their handbags are almost impossible to authenticate unless there are obvious problems. How hard is it to fake a hangtag? All a counterfeiter has to do is get the stamping details and the shape right.

Although I don't see any obvious problems, they're just questionable enough that I wouldn't sell them separately. You could keep them aside to give to someone buying a vintage Coach that's missing a hangtag while making it clear that you can't be completely sure they're authentic.

This is another post warning of the caution needed if doing business on Poshmark.

Yep, unless you plan to keep that bag forever for your own use, it can't be authenticated and shouldn't be sold. I continue to find it amazing (and unbelievable) that not a single seller of a "sample" bag has ever shown any type of evidence proving authenticity!

I apologize for missing your original request because had I seen it, I would have advised you not to buy it.

Also, had you searched the seller's ID (one of the reasons we need it for requests), you would have seen a history. That Hall of Shame post has 4 fakes that she'd listing/sold:

I tried find a way to report but couldn't find any. They don't Authenticate before listing. Only after it sells it goes to their Authentication service and then if it passes their check then they send you the bag. They aren't too familiar with Coach and I have little doubt it'll pass their...

I bought a bag on Vinted, the seller pointed out a few faults, I thought it looked good so bought it, however, another very helpful seller had advised I should seek TPF authenticity as she (who is very knowledgeable) was still not 100% sure.
