Hello authenticators, I messed up and impulse bought this white Court. I was hoping to have it authenticated before it ships out. I know it’s supposed to happen in the opposite order, authenticate then purchase. I’m sorry.

Item: Court bag
Listing number: n/a
Seller: Sarah White on Mercari
Link: https://merc.li/mctt7Wkub
Comments: many thanks for the help.

Just my own personal sense of caution, but I'm just not comfortable authenticating any highly faked style where the creed and serial number aren't readable, and I don't own a genuine Court to compare it to. I'm always cautious about white vintage bags that don't seem to have any scuffs or grunge on the outside. And even though it's barely visible, the underscore in the "No" seems longer than it should be. I just can't be 100 percent sure it's ok.

@BeenBurned, what do you think?

I don't believe the bag is authentic based on details other than the creed. While I don't think there's enough evidence to report the bag (yet), I certainly don't recommend paying Mercari seller Sarah White for it without (AT LEAST) a better picture of the creed.

There are some small (but significant) differences in the dogleash clip, d-ring and strap anchor on the Mercari bag vs. 2 of my own. Notice also the sloppiness of the top handle vs. an authentic comp. (Comps below.) I'm not feeling the love when it comes to authenticity based on the differences below and what I see on the creed.

The underscore under No appears longer than it should be to me too and as compared to my authentic comps and matches fakes in my records.

Thank you. I have a horrible habit of buying before I think it through. I messaged the seller with my concerns. I have paid her because it was on Mercari. I asked for a better picture but she said it was already packed to ship. I hope it hasn’t shipped. If it has, I’ll clearly write on the inside that it is fake in permanent marker and turn it into a dress up purse or repurpose it some other way. I appear to be someone who has to learn lessons the hard way. Thank you both Hyacinth and BeenBurned

Don't eat the loss. This is what I'd do.

1. Tell the seller you have concerns about authenticity. (Refer her here if necessary.)
2. Because of those concerns, before shipping, you want her to open it and send a picture.
3. If she refuses, tell her that you will return it (at her expense) if you receive and it's confirmed as fake.
4. If you can leave negative feedback, do so if she's not cooperative.

I messaged her with my concerns and she was receptive and agreed it was best to cancel the purchase since it hasn’t shipped out yet. She can’t refund it herself and since it has been marked as shipped, Mercari won’t allow me to request a refund. I have messaged Mercari about this situation. I’ll update if anyone wants info on the resolution.

I believe that if the item doesn’t arrive within a certain amount of days it gives you the option to request a refund. Not sure if there’s a quicker resolution.
