It's fine. I think the hardware is silver (nickel), not gunmetal.

Both look fine.

I'm pretty sure the second one (black) is water buffalo and if you rehab, it's done differently than you'd do cow leather.

Thank you for letting me know that. It is actually mint, but I do want to condition it and shine the brass a little. Is there a particular area I can find out about water buffalo on the purse forum or do a search?

There were several similar styles.

I believe that the black one is 4730 and is called (I think) combination wallet.

I don't know the name or style number of the brown one.

I'm sorry but I'm not comfortable enough with the additional pictures you've shown. I can't find any evidence that the style number on the creed is correct for the bag and there are a few other things that bother me.

Although I can't say for sure it's fake (or authentic), I wouldn't keep it UNLESS there's someone here who has the same bag, same style and can comment.

Genuine. It might be an Everett Bag 9934 but Coach gives the measurements as 4 1/2 x 4 3/4 x 2 inches. From the Holiday 1993 catalog:
