Hi, Would you please authenticate this. I purchased it and then saw that this seller was reported as selling fakes in the fake hall of fame.

Items: Collegiate Bag
Seller: Lorac2015
Site:Poshmark

i cannot find a listing number on Poshmark. when I tried to cancel this order the seller told me that NYC a bags cannot be faked, so now I really don't trust.
Thano you.
ANY Coach bag can be faked, or just about any other brand as well. Just because we may not have seen examples yet doesn't mean it can't happen, or hasn't already happened.

ETA - As an example of the dangers of sellers claiming knowledge that they don't actually have, Lorac2015 claims in the listing title that the bag is from the 1970s, but the Summer 1988 catalog clearly lists that style as "NEW" which indicates a Spring or Summer 1988 introduction so maybe she might want to be more careful.

I personally won't authenticate items from that seller, so please wait for an authenticator who does.
Please don't take it personally @emilylia because it's not you. I don't authenticate that seller either.

If you search the seller's ID and history, you'll see that it's not just 1 fake that upsets us but rather, her previous posting history here, her alleged participation in several private facebook and social media groups that take great pride and joy in attacking TPF and its members and her association with other people who take even greater happiness in denigrating us.

In fact, this is a post from just a week ago about a fake she has listed. Although it's known that they read TPF and comment on what is posted (among their private groupies), the fake is still listed, potentially waiting for a buyer to be ripped off by the $165 fake.

The following makes for some interesting reading:
Thank you for explaining and the background information. It explains alot and lesson learned.
In case you haven't already read all the links that BeenBurned posted from the Search for that seller's name, Lorac2015 , I'll post the one below specifically because it expands on my reasons for not authenticating items from that seller.

Not only has she posted multiple derogatory and obscene comments about tPF as well as me and other tPF members mostly on Private Facebook sites that have on occasion been opened to the public along with those disgusting posts, but she's also been reported to have engaged in actions against other tPF members that would have gotten her suspended from any legitimate selling site (such as Ebay) that cares about protecting their members not just from fakes but also from harassment or auction interference by other members.

Anyone who does that to anyone else just because of a site they belong to doesn't deserve ANY kind of approval, even if it's just confirmation of authenticity for one of their items. If someone wants to take pot shots at me, go right ahead, I consider the source and take it as a compliment. But trying to damage another seller's business for no valid reason, however twisted it might be, is disgusting and not to be tolerated, at least not by me.

Wow, this is something. Is it purposeful inaccurate information and twisting of facts?

I just went back to look at the listing you'd asked about @emilylia and not only do I have issues with Poshmark seller LORAC2015, but in looking at the listing again, I see that she's clearly misleading or worse, lying to her potential buyers by posting misleading information.

In her statement, she MISQUOteD @whateve by falsely attributing a quote to @whateve that was NOT what was said!!

This is lorac2015's post:
lorac2015 @emilymaude1 whateve said: I can't believe that hasn't sold in 12 weeks! It's authentic. It appears to be a collegiate bag. So far I haven’t seen a fake Coach with NYC creed yet, is it safe to consider all NYC creed Vintage Coach bags most likely are authentic? Thanks.

This is actually the post (and screenshot):
lunasilver post re nyc creed.png

As you can see, NO one said that NYC bags weren't faked!

And although the implication per Lorac's comment is that the reference is to Lorac2015's listing, that is NOT the bag that @whateve authenticated.

@emilylia and @BeenBurned-

And regarding the "information" about serial number dates that LORAC2015 claims she found in the Salearea Guides...

Why lean on the late 1970's and pretend that my slightly earlier statement in the Guides didn't exist?
"...Over the years there have been many changes to the wording, design, fonts and layout of the creed statement. In the early days they didn't even have serial numbers, these weren't used until some time in the later 1970s to early 1980s..."

Dear Carol aka lorac2015-
It's a HELLUVA lot more likely for a bag with an NYC creed and a serial number to be from the 1980s than the 1970s. And what was the publication year of the catalog photo you included in your listing? It's even a bit more recent than the one in my Summer 1988 paper catalog since not only is the Collegiate listed as "New" in Summer 1988 but the MSRP is only $106, whereas the catalog photo in the Lorac2015 listing shows an MSRP of $118, and the photo and price is EXACTLY the same as the one in the digital version of the 1989 Summer Preview catalog, which I've copied from my own digital version of the infamous DVD/bracelet/thumb drive so many of us already own. So if Lorac2015 has a copy of a page from the Summer Preview 1989 catalog showing the Collegiate, how does that jibe with it being a bag from the 1970s? And why is she trying to hint that she was misled by the Salearea Guides? If someone's going to point fingers at my research they'd bloody well better get their facts straight first.

Since it's an early 1996 style and serial number, my guess is that the color is "Sea" which shows as a light grayish-green color on the early 1996 catalag pages. Most of the time the color of the creed patch or pocket in vintage bags is going to be closest to the actual color because it hasn't had a chance to fade from sunlight or to darken from conditioning or use. Always pay attention to that area, it can tell you more than just the serial number. Also note that the description says "gray FAMILY,"not just gray.

Here's a Spring 1996 catalog page showing what's probably that color on a different Sonoma style, item D. Coach did have a Grey color for that line but it was darker:

Ok, I'm just going to admit this. I had NO idea why the seller said 'family' in the listing. Once again, I saw what I wanted to see. Love the level headed ladies here who keep us all on track.

Hello would you please authenticate this bag from seller dressforless98? The bag measures https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-Coach-Red-Legacy-Duffle-Bag-5d5619d8abe1cec45f8c8793. Thank you
$2500?!?!?!?

I know we don't usually comment on price and in our society, sellers can charge whatever they want, but IMO, no bag is worth that kind of money!

It's authentic and made in 1994.

HOOOOO-LEEEEEE-CWAP.

I agree with BeenBurned. I probably wouldn't pay one-tenth of that price. And I wouldn't deal with anyone who listed a price like that even as a joke.

I'm also wondering who did the "free authentication". If it's by Poshmark, we already know what their "free authentications over $500" are worth, I don't care how many "sweethearts" someone tosses at me.

BTW, it's NOT a Legacy anything or a Limited Edition of ANY kind.

Several of her items are very high priced so I don't think it is a mistake.

I followed this bag on ebay for a long time. About two years ago. Wonder why she still has it????
