Howdy Authenticators,
This was an interesting find. I had no idea that Coach made this type of briefcase (1990s or early 2000s?) and it is still a rarity in the used market. After doing a search online for more info, it appears all were made in Italy only, unless my search was not thorough enough. I trust that this one is genuine unless it’s a really good fake. Thanks for checking it out.

I don't have the style in my files but it looks authentic, made in 1998.

Nice find! It appears that your bag is called the Fold-Over Brief 5214 and it originally sold for $538 in 1998/99. I found this fragment of a catalog page about the bag on the internet.

Thank you Katev for sharing that print ad. I found it too in my search but surprised that it is not a common briefcase/bag (and quite pricey for its time). Considering inflation, the bag would cost a bit less than $900 in 2021!

Hi, i can‘t tell if the coach bags she is selling are real…i will leave it to the authenticators. But looking at the stuff she is selling, I‘m dubious. Too good to be true. Prada shoes for 1.900?Hmmm.

Saw this comment too from the seller. Be careful! I am from the PH too and i just got duped. I bought a fake coach cassie from IG (Coachbags.ph)

Thanks for the listing and the ad. It's definitely genuine and I've never seen it before either, but it's in my files now

JUST AN "FYI" FOR ANYONE WITH AUTHENTICATION REQUESTS FOR CAROUSELL LISTINGS - My very old browsers refuse to open photos in Carousell pages, so I can't help with them, unless someone wants to post the actual photos ESPECIALLY clear readable pics of the creeds and serial numbers. Just the front, back and creed photos should be all that need to be copied and posted in the beginning, I can always ask if I need more. Let's hope BB or Whateve can help before that becomes necessary.

We've seen many fakes listed on that site, especially newer styles. Avoid it if possible, but always have any Carousell items authenticated.

Hello @Denise85! Thank you for replying. It’s nice to meet somebody from the philippines here. ❤️ I’m sorry you got duped. As most of the authenticators here say, there are really good fakes in our country that’s why I learned to ask first for the opinion of the experts here before i buy. Are you a coach collector also?

Wondering if I can get help authenticating this bag as well:

Item: Coach Fanny Pack 0515
Listing number: N/A
Seller and site where listed: Poshmark Seller fabulouso
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintage-Coach-Fanny-Pack-0515-60b7a8a2284e99bd23399389
Comments: Purchased this on Poshmark and after reading through some forums I'm worried that it's a fake bc the creed wording deviates from the standards that I've seen. Can anyone weigh in and let me know if this is a fake or authentic? Not sure if there is anything I can do to remedy this unfortunately but it would be nice to at least know. Thanks!

I don't have this style in my files either but it appears authentic, made in 1996.

The creed wording deviates from "standard" because the bag's material is different. You can ONLY compare creed wordings between two or more bags of the same exact style and style number.

Genuine, 515 Canteen Waist Pouch from the holiday 1993 catalog

Thank you so much for this info @Hyacinth! Will post again with pictures if that’s okay.

Would someone be willing to authenticate this bag for me.
It is heavy duty canvas with piping/bottom in leather.
I purchased it at a local estate sale.
I've looked everywhere I can think of to find out if this bag is genuine Coach.
Rivets on the strap have branding along with the buckle and the magnetic section
There is no white tag inside
Measurements are 14x13x4 with an adjustable leather/webbing strap.
The last picture shows a line of letter/numbers and a price written in some
sort of marker inside the interior zippered pocket.
Let me know if you need further pics
And thank you so much!

It's a genuine Flatiron II Small Mapbag made in 2004.

Hi, no not a coach collector. But I am interested in buying the Coach Cassie. I am not able to buy at the Coach website, Saks and Dillards as they only accept cards issued in the US.

Comments: Wary of authenticity due to the stitching beneath the lock on the inner side of the flap.

If it doesn’t trouble you, is there anything else that gives it away that it’s a fake? This would be a great help to my case.

The strap wasn't made by Coach, the Willis and other true pre-China vintage bags made of Coach's standard smooth leather never used rivets on their strap ends.
The turnlock is installed noticeably off-center, and the back plate has indentations for the the prongs, original handbag turnlocks from that time period did not.
The stitching on the top handle isn't right.
Worst and most damning of all, the font used in the serial number is COMPLETELY wrong for any genuine Coach made in the same plant, month and year indicated by the codes J,4 and D in the serial number prefix. The serial number font of a genuine bag with that prefix should look like this one, the "No" also has a much shorter underscore under the "o" in the genuine 1994 D-plant serial numbers.THE CREED WORDING IS ALSO WRONG FOR THAT PLANT, MONTH AND YEAR. In September 1994, genuine Coaches from the D plant were still using the "old" creed statement and format.

Here are the major problems with the fake:
