Hello All,

I received my legacy duffle today which I had authenticated here. However, I'm not sure if what I received is authentic. I'm attaching photos for your review. Here is the original listing for reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Legac...3egaHmaGtjI7JS6C3MzTQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

1. The "cognac" bag is smaller than my vermillion duffle that I purchased from Coach.com.

2. The leather looks and feels significantly different than my vermillion duffle. The "cognac" feels like plastic.

3. The listing states that it is new and unworn, but I found slight wear on the bag corners and on the inside of the inner zipper pocket, there was sand/dirt/crumbs.

4. The bag wasn't even sent in a decent package-it was shipped inside a coach dustbag in a plastic shipping bag. (see photo)

5. I attached a photo of the creed inside the "cognac" bag for reference.

6. The actual bag's measurements don't match the ebay listing.

Please help! Can you all please re-confirm if it is authentic or not? Please let me know if you need to see more photos. I appreciate everyone's help. Thank you.

The bag looks fine to me.

1. Is your vermillion one the same style number?

2. The leather on different bags can feel different

3. Sellers aren't always honest. I can't tell you how many times I've seen listings described as "NWOT" and the seller will say, "only used x-number of times." New means NEVER used!!

4. Sellers don't always ship in boxes or as we would like. Hopefully the bag didn't get damaged or bent out of shape because it was in a plastic package.

5. The creed looks fine.

6. The seller could have made a mistake in taking measurements, typo in posting them or simply could have measured differently than you did. (Some people flatten a bag to measure; others stuff it first. Some measure across widest part; others measure across narrowest.) Even Coach's website measurements don't match the actual items.

Hi BeenBurned!

I called my own bag the wrong color-it's actually Carnelian! I'm attaching a photo of its creed with the serial number (G1221-19893). The Cognac I received has this number (D1293-19889).

I'm not too familiar with the duffle line; did Coach make 2 different sizes-like a regular (my Carnelian) and a "mini" (the Cognac I received)?

And the bag looks ok, even though it was shipped in a dinky plastic bag.

Thanks again for your help!

They're two different styles, similar but not the same.

19893 is a slightly larger bag with list price $398.
19889 is list price $348.

And I'll back up the other authentications. Your Horse And Carriage bag is genuine.

As for your buyer's comments - she's wrong on every point.

Coach has been putting Made in China tags inside their Made in China bags and accessories for at least 10 years and probably more. And they actually started making bags in China some time around 1995, and accessories even earlier.

Smaller bags like Top Handles are considered accessories and some accessories have creeds and serial numbers, some just have creeds with NO numbers, and some have neither. What each accessory or bag gets it entirely up to Coach.

Sorry you got stuck with a buyer who refuses to do any research and who thinks that owning "several" of Coach's bags out of the more than THIRTY-THREE THOUSAND different purse and accessory bag style numbers currently in Coach's history and archives (and that's not counting wallets!) makes her an instant expert.

Maybe she can take over for BeenBurned and Whateve and myself and handle all these authentications at tPF too? Heaven knows we all could use a few weeks off. Yes, that was sarcasm. Maybe she also thinks that removing a splinter from someone's finger qualifies her to perform brain surgery.

My sympathies, you don't deserve that kind of buyer.
Thanks Hyacinth!
I just want you to know that the buyer did not open an official return due to the bag being a counterfeit. She wrote to me directly.

I don't mind when people message me with their concerns and give me the opportunity to point them in the direction to have the bag authenticated.
I can't get angry at someone who has limited knowledge about the product....
I only get peeved when
someone opens a return for a counterfeit item BEFORE contacting me or doing research.

Hopefully your input will enlighten her and others who "jump the gun"~

The mahogany is the Legacy duffle; the carnelian is the Legacy large duffle. There was also a mini, which is much smaller. I can't imagine anyone calling the regular duffle "mini!"

Just a suggestion - when you get a buyer who's not just deliberately ignorant but also clueless, thoughtless and thinks nothing of accusing people of selling fakes without any proof at all, you may want to post their Ebay ID here. There are dozens of Blocked Bidder Lists that would benefit from the information.

There used to be a thread somewhere around here or in the Ebay section of the main forum for listing poisonous buyers, I wonder if it's still active? Maybe BeenBurned remembers where it is?

Although its title implies that it's for non payers, this thread can be used to warn against any type of block worthy buyers. It just can be used for retaliatory posts.

Hopefully Hyacinth will know. It looks similar to the Hudson collection, like this one, which you can see was also made in Costa Rica: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-C...298?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f2ed052ea
They looked a lot of Sonomas but weren't made very long. It almost seems like they were just trying to use up the Sonoma leather. But yours is unlined so it might be unrelated. There are a lot of oddball styles that start with "6."

I don't have anything on it either, but the details seem genuine.

It's reassuring to know that there are other oddballs that have style numbers starting with 6. One of the eBay sellers that has an identical bag confirmed the same serial number.
It's constructed exactly the same as this one, but has the pebbled leather on the flap, straps and bottom. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-9315-...339?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5b122ff373
Thank you both for authenticating it. I'm just happy to know it's genuine.

You're welcome! That one is style #9315 Bleecker backpack and it has smooth leather, but it looks like they used the same design but gave it a different style number and creed because of the pebbled leather.
