Please post authenticity questions related to COACH in this thread. No PMs please.

Please follow the following requests:
  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

Coach has never never NEVER made bags in Korea, and has never used serial numbers with only 5 digits, and never used serial numbers that didn't have the abbreviation "No" in front of them.

Please don't depend on "guides". Most of them are filled with misinformation, and there's absolutely no one or two or three things that can prove a Coach is genuine. There are only a handful of accurate guides and the valid ones never make that claim. See my signature under my posts.

The proof is when all the details of a bag are right for the style, the month and year, the plant where it was made, and the details of the creed stamp and serial number from that plant, month and year. We don't base authenticity information on guides but on notes and large libraries of file and catalog photos or both real and fake bags.

The Willis in the photos looks ok, but it was made in 2000 so it's 5 years away from being "vintage".

I got this Coach bag today. It's in great condition and just needed a little cleaning. I found another like it on ebay so I think it's authentic. I think the ebay seller paid for a good part of the shipping and sent it Priority and I paid for standard shipping. Was surprised to get it so quickly.

Did you notice that it doesn't say "This is a Coach bag.." like authentic creeds? It says "This is the best bag..." And there is no Coach logo above the creed. It isn't reportable unless somebody represents it as a Coach or it has Coach imprinted somewhere else on the bag.

I put in a bid before I had authenticators look at it for me. I was looking for a black bag and ended up with another brown bag. I seem to have better luck at being the highest bidder on brown bags.

I believe it is impossible. Your best bet is something to cover it up. Maybe glossy acrylic paint or fabric paint? Once I saw something about someone who had removed a patent coating but I never could find it again and I don't know what it would do to the embossing.

I just wish this bag wasn't so darn cute! She may just be a "pub crawl" bag, meaning only take her out after dark :) It puzzles me HOW the spots got under the surface when I've not yet found anything that will permeate the coating!
