It's a genuine City Bag Spectator BUT THE STRAP HAS BEEN CUT. Look at the third and sixth photos. All the original strap holes have been cut off so the strap is probably at least 8 or 10 inches shorter that it originally was. And look at how the cut end has been finished off.

It's definitely NOT what I'd describe as "better than excellent"!

Oh, thanks so much for pointing that out. I hadn't studied all the pictures carefully yet & I would want it to be a crossbody.

It's definitely NOT what I'd describe as "better than excellent"! Seller " mymadpurchasing " needs to be much more careful about examining and describing their items. And buyers always need to examine the photos very closely, waaaay too many classic and vintage bags have had their straps chopped off.

Oh, thanks so much for pointing that out. I hadn't studied all the pictures carefully yet & I would want it to be a crossbody.
I'm so sorry I missed that!

No problem. Thank you both so much. I actually just messaged the seller & told her that she should point this out so that no one buys it & is disappointed that the strap is not adjustable.

Just received this reply from seller:
Thanks so much for your input.. I see, so the bag originally came with an additional strap? I understand, I will update my listing to reflect that, and also update the title name. Really appreciate it. This is a gorgeous bag.

I'll let her know that there were never 2 straps & that this was shortened.

Hey, this was my original message: Hi, This is a beautiful Coach City Bag Spectator, but it should be stated that the strap has been shortened & is not adjustable. You wouldn't want someone to purchase it & then be unhappy that it's not original. Just thought you might like to know. Regards, Susan

Thought my first message was clear - Just messaged her again & said:

NO. This is probably the original strap but the end has been shortened & there are no longer any holes to adjust the length.

You can see where the stitching ends from the cut.

Check it out, she now has the correct name & the strap info is noted in the description.

I'm adding an update to my authentication above.

Although the listings you've asked about are fine, I have reservations about the seller, love2shopdotbags.

I don't believe this is a seller who knowingly lists fakes however, I just found a current listing for a fake and a search of the forum shows that there was at least one previous fake posted on the Coach hall of shame in January.

A seller who sells as many Coach items as this one should be able to recognize an obvious fake and at the very least, should be confirming authenticity of items she (obviously) didn't purchase from a legitimate source.

Here's the previous Hall of Shame post.

I had committed to buy the Bleecker duffle before you posted this update, so I went through with the purchase. The bag she sent me appears very similar to the one posted, but it is NOT the exact one. There are different signs of wear, and the C's inside the leaves are positioned differently. If I take pictures, are you able to look it over for me? It looks like the same bag *to me*. But I'm not an expert. - Should I already contact her.

Another questionable purchase from before I joined this forum. It just arrived today and I'm upset because they didn't disclose the stains on the inside or the smoke smell. (It's a big deal because I'm allergic) It smells just awful, I want to cry. Anyone know if there is anything I can do? Anyway, please authenticate, and thanks in advance.

THIS is "elephant skin" - long, parallel wrinkles like stretch marks from weight loss or pregnancy. They don't look like any deliberately texturized leather and are a sign of over-processing or overstretching.

You'll sometimes see a genuine Coach with stretch marks but ONLY in areas of the bag where the leather is actually stressed and stretched out, like the bottom corners of bags that are often overloaded. When you see stretch marks in the body of a bag or other item where there aren't any stresses, it's a big red flag. But always ask here before reporting them.

Some examples - the first one includes not just elephant-skin, but an always-fake serial number and a sewn-on cellphone pocket.:
Thanks Hyacinth, the pictures are super helpful

I can't authenticate without a better picture of the creed. The A plant designation wasn't supposed to be used, but we've seen some bags with it that seem authentic. It might have been used for training purposes but we have no way of knowing.

There are ways to get rid of smoke smell but it takes a long time. It's been discussed many times in the rehab thread and elsewhere on the forum. I would put in a protected place outdoors for a couple of weeks to let it fade before I tried other methods. The seller takes returns. You can't claim not as described for the odor as ebay considers that to be normal, but you could do so for the undisclosed stains.

I've attached a clearer picture of the creed. I finally understand why sellers are so reluctant to take better pictures when I request them. Isn't that a lovely 4 inch long stain inside? What also concerns me is the puckering on the inside of the flap.

Hi, The seller sent me a bag that is NOT the EXACT one pictured. The signs of wear are different, different wrinkles, and the C's inside the leaves are positioned differently. To my eye, comparing it to the listing photos, it appears to be the same bag (edit: same style, NOT same EXACT bag), but I'm no expert.

Would you be able to take a look at photos of the actual bag I was sent?

THANKS!!!!
