It's an authentic girly shoulder bag made in 2002.

Hi again Authenticators,
Could someone please check this bag for me when you get a chance? I cleaned it and wore it for a couple of months but I'm ready to find something else. I haven't seen too many in this color so I would appreciate any input before I try to sell it.
Thanks so much.

It looks fine.

This is a good example of what happens when Ebay allows sellers to use other seller's listings descriptions because the 2 listings have a few of the same keywords.

It IS a genuine Station Bag and not a Willis but the seller also used the serial number information from a Willis listing to make things even more confusing. The serial number in the seller's photos is actually 0704-405, so the bag in this listing's photos is a Station Bag made in the early 1990s, NOT in the 1980-1989 period copied from the other listing and which that seller didn't get right either since the serial in THAT listing was apparently D9P-9927 and has a 1999 serial number prefix. And what's more, the first seller claimed their bag was made in the US but the serial number they posted and that the second seller copied shows a Costa Rica plant code.

So the seller's printed listing description is basically useless and almost all wrong including the measurements, almost the only thing that matches the bag in the current listing is the color. Ebay does this a LOT and according to their terms of service it's perfectly OK for them to direct a seller to what they consider is a freely usable description that's now considered part of their "library" or "catalog" but following Ebay's suggestion in these cases leads to nothing but trouble. Not only should a seller NEVER do it, but a buyer needs to be very sure that what's being described in a listing may or may NOT be the bag that they're buying. Making sure the serial number in the listing matches the serial number in the photos is critically important. The seller has left themselves wide open for a SNAD claim too, that listing is an unholy MESS.

@Kelowna, please understand that none of this is your fault. If you want a Station Bag, that's apparently what you're getting. Combine a massively stupid policy by Ebay with overly trusting or just plain lazy sellers is a recipe for, if not actual disaster, then at least potential disappointment.

Don't believe everything you see or read in an Ebay listing. If something doesn't seem right, do exactly what you did and let us take a look.

Thank you for that excellent discussion. The purse itself is actually very nice and because of the whole hot mess of the listing I just went with the photos.
It’s so hard to confirm anything online anymore since people will list just about any descriptors, if at all (half the time the description is just the title with the shipping method).
Completely agree with you that more appropriate information is needed. I’ll try to reach out to the seller. It’s not going to be the last time but hopefully there will be less of them in the future.

anyhow, thank you for authenticating it! I really love it!

I'm happy that it worked out well for you. I have a feeling that more than a few buyers have found themselves owning something that wasn't quite what the printed description said it was. What makes it even more ironic is that back when Ebay was serious about accurate listings, it was actually AGAINST their Rules for any seller to copy another seller's listing. So apparently they decided to just claim that anything posted on their site became their property and they could use it any way they liked including putting them in their master "catalog" for other sellers to copy, and the original seller who may have taken a lot of time and effort to get their listings accurate and attractive to buyers was now SOL.

This is their current policy, it used to be very different and there was NO "catalog".

and heres the Rules from the early days of Ebays Product Catalog, still after the Rules change but after all references to the very early Rules about "no copying at all" had been changed:

"9-17-2013
Policy overview

eBay members are not allowed to use images—including photos and other pictures—or text they didn't create themselves. Exceptions to this policy would be if they are authorized to do so by the owner, its agent, or the law.

You can use images and text descriptions from the eBay product catalog in your listings without violating this policy. The product catalog may include, at our discretion, select seller-generated images or photos from seller listings. Unless the seller opts out of this program, the inclusion of such seller-generated photos in the eBay product catalog and the use of catalog content by eBay sellers in their eBay listings is authorized under the User Agreement.

If you choose not to use photos or product descriptions from eBay's product catalog, the best way to make sure you follow our policies is to take your own photos and write your own descriptions. This will help you avoid the risks of using someone else's pictures or text, and you won't need to worry about getting permission from any third parties.

Make sure your listing follows these guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed, and you may be subject to a range of other actions, including limits of your buying and selling privileges and suspension of your account."

Probably a LOT more than you ever wanted to know.

And then Ebay wonders why sellers are leaving the site.
