I stand corrected. Thank you, Hyacinth. I thought the plant code below the creed should have been a letter, not the number "3".

One of the Turkey plants was using a number "2" plant code as early as 1996. And China has used other numbers as plant codes.

Please read the six Salearea Guides pinned to the index pages of this subforum.

Comments: I think it looks totally fake even without the creed photo, the entire shape is wrong but the seller said she purchase it from a vintage store in Japan so it can't be a fake one.

Where are you seeing the "9826" number? If there's a serial number and creed stamp inside, we need a clear readable photo of it.And I need a clear readable photo of any stampings on the magnetic snap shown in the last photo, the stamping isn't visible with the light hitting it head on. Unless it's the base of a Springlock, I can't tell from the photo. The part under the flap looks like a magnetic snap but there's a springlock on the flap - which does it have? The springlock also looks slightly different from the ones Coach used.

People used to think that stores and sellers in Japan are automatically trustworthy. Absolutely not! We've seen high volume Japanese seller repeatedly listing fakes, especially Korean-made fakes, even after Ebay has removed them at least once. And there's a HUGE volume of modern counterfeit Coach items currently being sold all over the planet by sellers claiming to be located in Japan because sellers from that country used to be considered trustworthy. That's no longer the case.

Read this thread about the fakes-selling ring apparently using Japan as their base. We just found another bag they probably sold just in the last 2 weeks.

As for the bag you're asking about - the hangtag concerns me and so do the metal rings around the ends of the strap and those oddly curved belt loops. But I want to see the magnetic snap(?) and whatever the creed and serial number say. The irregular color is also a problem, Coach never did irridescent colors (if that's what it is) on vintage bags.

ETA - I'm modifying my comment and just calling it an outright FAKE for now. That bag has one detail that would never be found in a genuine style 9826 according to my files. Again, I still want to see those photos of the snap, if that's what it is, and the creed and serial.

EETA - More comments and photos - this is a GENUINE 9826 Mini Belt Bag. Notice the shape of the belt loops and the fact that there is NO center seam on the base of the bag, look at the photo of the inside of the red one. I also have photos of a fake with that incorrect center seam and an always-fake "J8Y-" serial number prefix. Does the serial number in yours happen to be J8Y- too?

You edited your post but my email notification showed your original comment of, "I think it looks totally fake even without the creed photo, the entire shape is wrong but the seller said she purchase it from a vintage store in Japan so it can't be a fake one."

That an item was purchased from a Japanese seller or from a store in Japan has NOTHING to do with authenticity and although Japan (supposely) has very strict laws around the sale of counterfeit items, I've seen more fakes than I can count from Japanese sellers on ebay and on other sites. And the Japanese sellers' fakes aren't limited to items from a particular era, i.e., vintage or newer, preowned or unused.

In fact, I have a long separate thread in the Coach shopping subforum that issues a warning of caution when buying new Coach items:

And the Hall of Shame thread has 3 pages (so far) of posts of fakes from Japanese sellers:

So the seller's claim that it has to be authentic because it came from Japan is nonsense!

Please request (at the very least) a picture of the creed from the bag.

ETA: @Hyacinth beat me!

Hyacinth, I htink you misunderstood the poster. She thinks it's fake. It's the seller claiming authenticity because the seller purchased from Japna.

ETA: Again: If the bag is being sold online, PLEASE post a link!

Yes, I had to make some corrections to my post (quite a few corrections in fact) because once again I'm trying to do too many things at once and misread her post. I THINK I've got everything straightened out now. Apologies all around if I still misunderstood something.

Yup, I made several corrections and edits too! Between not having enough coffee, losing an hour sleep (because of DST) and the dog deciding that I didn't need to sleep as late as I wanted, I didn't do too well either!

Hi BeenBurned,
thank u so much for ur reply! I totally agree with u that from Japan can't prove anything and this seller is not selling online so there is no link, just a little disappointed why the seller are not willing to learn things before selling fake bags. Thank u again for ur help :)

Genuine and made in 2007. From the measurements, strap and trim details I believe it's a Hamptons or Legacy Signature Swingpack, not a File Bag, but I can't find any for sale that still have their price tags with the style name. File Bags are usually wider.
