I suspect the G plant was closed in 1998; I don't have any authentic G creeds in my files for 1999. (there are 3 1999 G plant bags on ebay currently and they all are fake: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Brown...605?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item259a526f15
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Authe...561?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c8f8f7149
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-BLA...165?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25a5f6414d )

Besides the weird frame-like stain, the fuzziness of the stamp is wrong. The thicker leather of this style would have a clearly stamped creed. The font is completely wrong for the G plant.

Every authentic version of this bag I can find was made in 2000 at the D factory. I believe the style was introduced in late 2000, so a 1999 creed would be a little early.
Thanks for confirming. dendenn_xqa3fl's fake Dooney was removed. With this confirmation, I'll report the fake Coach.

The bags you had authenticated were genuine.

My post was pointing out that love2shopdotbags has a history of mixing fakes in among her listings for bags.

IMO, a seller who mixes can be more dangerous than a seller who wouldn't know an authentic item if it introduced itself. when a seller has a history and reputation for selling authentic items, it's easier for them to get away with ripping off an occasion buyer with a fake.

And the current fake I found is priced at $299! That's a lot of money that a buyer would be scammed out of:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...147?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae4968ffb

Again, the bags you asked about are okay but perhaps the seller might be interested (since she already has "fake" dings on her account) to know she needs to do her homework and at least, end the current listing before adding another ding!
Let me add that it isn't a hard to spot fake. Anyone who took the time to learn some basic things would be able to figure out it is fake.

You're welcome.

Have you ever seen the leather covering on the ends of the dowel on a Willis bag fall off? Is that even possible?

I've never backed out of an item I've committed to buy. Will I get dinged by eBay for it? Can the seller give negative feedback on me?

Comments:

1. It's honorable to want to complete any transaction for which you've committed.
2. The bag is authentic since you asked about 2 bags and both were fine.
3. Even if you backed out now (by cancelling), since you paid for the item, your account won't be dinged
4. Sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers at all or for any reason
5. Again, I'll repeat what I'd posted before. The seller, love2shopdotbags sells mostly authentic and although I don't believe she knowingly lists fakes, there have been quite a few over the years that were definitely fakes, some very "scary good" fakes and she should be having her items authenticated before listing them.

Comments: I have these in other colors, but I don't know what to look for to spot a fake. Thank you, experts!

I can't recommend Liberty Store because few of the listings show adequate pictures, both to prove (or disprove) authenticity but also, to show the true condition.

If these valet sellers want to be successful, they're going to have to improve their listings, IMO.

I agree.

The two smaller Madisons look genuine, but after seeing the condition of the turnlocks I would want to see better photos showing the condition of the rest of the bags. The red one already looks like it's out of shape on the bottom, maybe from overloading.

It actually wasn't an instant pay. It was just a commit-to-buy, and I was contemplating the 2nd bag before I paid. It appears I can only "cancel" by asking the seller to cancel the transaction, or by just not paying... and becoming a non-paying bidder. GASP!

And by the way, thanks again for ALL your wonderful knowledge and sharing it with all of us!!

Yes, it can happen with genuine bags. This one seems genuine but the abnormally shiny leather makes me wonder how the bag was restored or conditioned and what products were used on it.
