  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:

    Seller and site where listed
    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, on Christmas, nonetheless! This is a case where the buyer is mistaken.

Is the buyer open to coming here and expressing her concerns and getting reassurance that the bag is indeed authentic? If so, please refer her because there's nothing wrong with your bag. It's correct for when and where made.

1. Between 2014 and 2016, Coach stopped putting serial numbers on creeds and instead put the production info on a small white tag hidden inside the bag. In this case, you were smart enough to show that tag. Did the buyer look at the pictures in the listing? They show the creed without a serial number and they show the tag with all the info it's supposed to have!

2. Not all bags have a leather smell and in newer bags, the smell isn't as strong nor lasts as long as older classic and vintage bags!

3. Dust bags and tags don't prove (or disprove) authenticity since both are often faked or genuine props can be shown to "prove" authenticity of a fake. And even when an item may have originally come with a dust bag (and tag), those items can be misplaced or in the case of a pre-owned item, discarded by the original owner.

Since they weren't shown or described as being included, they shouldn't have been expected.

4. Sheesh! Seriously?!?! Did you explain that you packed it that way for protection? If you just dumped the bag into a box without protecting it, she wouldn't have been happy if it came scuffed and scratched.

Please refer the buyer here if she wants reassurance.

I really appreciate beenBurned that you took the time today to help me out. I had the feeling this transaction could be a problem, when the buyer contacted me a couple times, asking for a lesser price. It was Christmas time so I agreed, and now this.

My boyfriend got this for me for Christmas...

1- both are genuine, the City Bag was made in 1996 and the Court Bag in 1995

2- the Legacy Zip is genuine, from 2000

3- genuine Court Bag probably from around 1988-89

Thank you very much, Hyacinth, for your quick response, time and expertise. I greatly appreciate your detailed information.

Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

EDIT: I forgot about another bag I bought!

Hello ladies! I would appreciate your help authenticating two bags that I have! Thank you so much!

Item: Coach ?Compact? bag H4B-9620
Listing number: 111034964
Seller and site where listed: shopgoodwill.com
Link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/111034964
Comments: I bid on this impulsively without really thinking. The condition and the creed patch all looked good to me. When I googled the number and saw mentions of H4B being common in some types of counterfeits I became really nervous.

Item: Coach ?brown? leather bag 0088-018
Listing number: 110669295
Seller and site where listed: shopgoodwill.com
Link: https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Item/110669295
Comments: Again, I purchased this impulsively. I hope it is genuine.

Thank you so much for your help!

Unsure where to post this question but can anyone help me identify the name of this bag?
This is an authentication thread, not an ID thread. The ID thread is here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...st-any-coach-item-name-questions-here.355205/
We generally need measurements and pictures of any tags, including the creed, if there is one. I've had a variation of this style and never got an exact name or style number. They made many iterations that are very similar, many for outlets. Generally, they were called swingpacks. This one might have been part of Soho collection.

I also had one of what I think is the same style. Please post a picture of the creed. It's a soho leather duffle but to give the name, we need a creed photo.

(The one I had was 9480 from 2004.)

Both are fine.

H4B fakes are most commonly seen with-05xx style numbers but it's always a good idea to check any bag you aren't sure of.
