  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:
  • FOR ITEMS LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Listing number:

    Link:
    Comments:

  • FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
    Item:
    Where purchased or how obtained
    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

The bag is authentic and although Entrupy got it right this time, they don't have a great record so it's always a good idea to verify that items are authentic.

I don't see what you're complaining about with the handles but they appear to be the originals that came with the bag.

Thanks for the prompt response and authentication!

If you want to post pictures of the bag you received, we might be able to see what you are talking about.

Picture's incoming, but just the handles. I suffered a sever head injury just over two years ago and have lasting mild to moderate hand tremors, so photography can be a bit of a challenge for me.

If it has damage that wasn't disclosed, just return it to Goodwill. If it's Not As Described, why would you want to keep it? There's no mention of damaged straps in the listing and apparently no photos either so Goodwill should accept the return. Apparently you just bought it last week, so return it.

The Condition as described in the listing is:
CONDITION:Pre-owned

Some dirt, dust, and blemishes due to use. Inside lining needs clean. Some wear and dirt around inside zipper pocket. Sold as shown.

If the strap damage wasn't disclosed in the listing and isn't visible in their photos (and I sure can't see any hint of any damage to the straps), then the condition is NOT "as shown" and they owe you a refund.

Damaged straps don't prove something's fake, there are a lot of things that can damage a strap. Coach uses a variety of materials to shape and reinforce their straps, what's underneath doesn't prove or disprove authenticity. Most of the time we don't even know what's supposed to be underneath, so what exactly are we supposed to be looking for?

I thought the auctions from GW were completely final and it was not a very expensive purchase. I've never soaked one of the newer bags before, and thought this would be a perfect candidate to test it out also.

Good morning dear authenticators! Request to authenticate please. Thank you!
Item: black leather bag, I was unable to find a name.
Where purchased or how obtained: thrift store
Comments: dimensions are 10 1/4" height, 10 1/4" width, almost 5" depth. Light creed is a concern for me. Urgh! Again sideways photos! Honesty, they are straight forward when I take them. Please let me know if you need me to re-take the photos. Thank you!
ETA better photos! I hope!

It's authentic but I can't see clearly enough to tell what it looks like. Is there a front flap? Whitney, maybe?

It's a genuine style 9906 Post Pouch probably made in 1992 or 1993. The color looks like Camel which was available from Fall 1992 when it was introduced thru Spring and Summer 1993 when it was apparently discontinued.
Ah camel. It will be interesting to see it in person. I don't own a lot of light colored bags. Thanks Hyacinth for being so informative!

Good morning cherished authenticators! Could you kindly have a look at this bag from my local Facebook marketplace? I asked for a photo of the creed and the reply was that it didn't have one. It does have what appears to be a metal Coach cartouche which I hope I was able to enlarge adequately for you. Seller didn't have the measurements, but sent a mod shot so I could see how small it is. Perhaps there isn't sufficient information to authenticate or identify, but I thought I'd try, and any information you can give me would be much appreciated. If authentic it would be a gift for a close friend who loves orange. Many thanks in advance! :hugs:

All 3 items are authentic.

The coin purse is a tartan mini skinny, style 44145.
The wristlet is a tartan zip around wristlet, style (I think) 44126.
The bag is a soho pleated tartan tote, style 15228.

It's a 4075 Lightweights Bucket Bag, early 1990s. There was also a smaller version, 4070, but those measurements are given as 9 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches.

I thought the auctions from GW were completely final and it was not a very expensive purchase. I've never soaked one of the newer bags before, and thought this would be a perfect candidate to test it out also.

Then just keep it and use it to get some Rehab experience. If you returned it to GW you'd probably have to pay the return postage.

The tears in the strap could probably be patched but the Rehab and Rescue thread on the main Coach forum under Coach Clubhouse could give you more details on that. The cost of materials might be more than what you paid for the bag, but the rehabbers there could tell you what's involved. It's only a very thin layer of leather over whatever materials Coach used to shape and reinforce the strap and those wouldn't be leather, probably some kind of plastic or vinyl but I've never taken a strap apart to find out. The more recent a Coach bag is, the more plastic-based materials it probably contains.

The real vintage all-leather bags would have had straps that were almost all leather with maybe some sort of cord under the leather piping or edging to protect and shape the edges, and maybe a thin layer of another material between the layers of the strap. Again, the Rehab people will know.

If you decide to post there, be sure to include photos of the strap damage, the bag itself, and the creed patch and serial number of the bag.
