I don't always know the differences between chimps, monkeys, gorillas or orangutans but this is a picture of a portion of the receipt showing that Coach described it as "monkey."

Ok, I'll correct myself - "some kind of monkey or primate".

Hello Authenticators, is this beautiful red briefcase authentic? I certainly hope so. I noticed that the classic 5265 made in China has the brass rings holding the handle on top of the bag (others made in other countries have them in leather). It’s nice to see that this model briefcase came in red leather. Thanks for authenticating.

It looks good to me.

Oooops, Lexington Brief from 2002. I have official Coach pics with both types of handle fasteners.

Hi Authenticators, I bought these two Coach bags from a seller on Poshmark.
Item: Coach mini hampton bag (black)
Listing number: B6D - 7542
Seller and site where listed: leannsdeals on Poshmark
Link:https://poshmark.com/listing/COACH-Mini-Hampton-Bag-5e81120cd948a1936157e88b
Comments: At the first sight I feel the leather and hardware feel good to me, but then I noticed the seam of the bag. I have never seen such terrible stitches on a Coach bag before, so I feel kinda anxious. As for the creed, the "o" before the serial number looks too oval. I doubt if it is authentic.
Item: Coach hobo bag (white/brown)
Listing number: K0678 - F10192

Comment: I added some pics of creed and hardware since some pics in the link are not very clear. This white hobo bag looks nice to me, but I purchased this one from the same seller of that hampton bag, so I am not 100% sure...
Thanks so much for authenticating!

Thank you, Hyacinth. Would you know why Coach had different handle fasteners for the Lexington brief at different plants?

You're asking ME why Coach made a decision over 20 years ago? Hell's Bells, kid, I don't know why they make ANY of their decisions, bone-headed or otherwise! Why did they stop putting the serial numbers on creed patches in 2014? And why did they put PHONY serial numbers in other bags during the same time? And why did they decide to close the Archive and let Jed Winokur go when he probably did more to earn his salary than 95 percent of Coach's top executives?

If they contact me with answers to THOSE questions, I'll ask them about the handle on the Lexington, although I seriously doubt if any of them will have the slightest clue what I'm talking about. Until then it will have to remain one of the unsolved mysteries of the corporate world, which we usually explain away by shrugging and repeating The Mantra - "The only consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistency". Just keep repeating it to yourself. It's like "what happened to DB Cooper?" We may never know. Some things are beyond the ken of mortal men.

(BTW, my guess is that the brass hardware was stronger than the leather mounts, especially when people were trying to carry one of those old 8 or 9 pound laptops from 20 or 25 years ago in a briefcase with handles held on by just a few dozen stitches.)

The first one (from seller leannsdeals) is fake. If you haven't accepted the item yet, DON'T! Open a dispute for a return.

The second, a soho flap bag is authentic.

ETA: Why am I not surrpised that leannsdeals is another "POSH AMBASSADOR?" So many of them sell fakes!

The black one is fake, the entire serial number is invalid. Get your money back. The year code in the serial number is at least 6 or 7 years too early for that style and the serial number font is also wrong.

I'd like to see a clearer, readable picture of the magnetic snap on the white one, the picture you posted doesn't show the wording stamped on it clearly enough.

ETA - never mind the mag snap photo, BeenBurned confirms that it's OK.

Hi Hyacinth, thank you for the authenticating! Here are the pictures of the buckle, hope these are readable enough cause the word is really small. The strap buckles don't have stamps on them, so I am confused because the other two coach hobo bags I have( a small black leather hobo and a big monogram hobo) both have stamps on the strap hardwares.

Don't ever judge authenticity based on something like hardware stamps. Every style number can have its own stamping arrangement, or no stampings at all, you can ONLY compare those kinds of details between 2 bags that are exactly the same style number. Any so-called authenticity guide, and there are far too many of them, that claims that genuine Coaches should have every piece of hardware stamped Coach is totally wrong and should never be depended on. The older Coaches had no stampings at all, and there are certain kinds of hardware that should never be stamped on any style.

Please, if you haven't already, read the Salearea Guides, they explain what to believe and what not to believe about all the nonsense floating around on the net. There's a massive amount of misinformation about Coach and you need to know what to be concerned with and what is just delusional nonsense spewing from some fool who "writes" a guide full of nonsense, copies of other peoples' mistakes, and just plain lies.

(Actually, I asked for a photo of the magnetic snap, not the buckle, but BeenBurned already authenticated the white one so it's not necessary.)
