Dear Authenticator,
I purchased these two bags from Poshmark and was hoping someone might be able to help me verify their authenticity? I am brand new to the whole buying designer purses thing and want to take all the necessary precautions I can to ensure their authenticity. Having absolutely no experience with Coach bags, I am quite nervous some may be fake. Any additional information regarding the bags themselves would be greatly appreciated! I have included additional pictures in case the links do not cooperate. Thank you for your time!

Can someone confirm if my gorilla key chain is authentic? Mine (pictured) was a gift from my sister a while ago - I assume she got it on eBay or something, but am not sure where. I noticed when I saw this Poshmark listing that the lozenge on the PM one is much bigger than on mine. I can't see any other obvious differences to my untrained eye, except mine has a bullseye mark, so maybe it's just an outlet version?

Thank you for your help! I'm not selling or buying, but just want to confirm in case I do sell mine one day.

Hello authenticators! I’m wondering about goodwill authentication. If they don’t write ‘authentic’ in their listing and include a pic of the certificate, it hasn’t been authenticated. Is that correct? Sometimes I see listings that are a bit off. This one more so. Can you provide guidance? Thanks!

I have absolutely NO idea about why and when GW uses the word "authentic". So far, NONE of the sites they use have proven even remotely competent in telling real Coaches from fakes, so the only thing I'd recommend is to ignore any and all of those so-called Certificates Of Authenticity completely. The only use for most of those COAs is if you run out of toilet paper and happen to have one of those COAs in your bag.

This one is a fake style AND a fake serial number that's been widely posted in various places including tPF, Ebay and other sites as being "always fake, no exceptions" for close to 16 years at least. A simple Google search could have turned up more than enough information about it, so all I can assume is that the management of that particular GW site is even less competent to to figure out authenticity issues than most. Try it yourself, Google "coach 308-9875" and see what comes up and how far back the links go, and how many photos there are of all sorts of different bags with exactly the same serial number. And that's not even getting into the fact that all of them seem to spell "coachbag" as one word and have invented a new spelling for the word "marXings". How much effort does it take to notice a misspelled word, not to mention two (what is "full-Crain leather, exactly??)

ETA: It's called monkey KF (according to Coach).

Both look good, the first one with the pink trim was made in 2007 and the second in 2009. I don't have names for either one.

Hi authenticators. I bought this bag on Mercari with assurances that it is a vintage Coach. But now I’m having my doubts about the authenticity. There are no stamps or marks anywhere on the bag. Is it a copycat or an earlier version without the stamp?

There may be 2 tiny holes or indentations near the top of the inside of the back panel or pocket where a small metal Coach plaque, maybe an inch wide, would have been fastened by prongs. We've seen other examples of that style and there's no reason to think it's fake. The indents may have faded with time but you might get lucky if you use a magnifying glass. It's not uncommon for small bits like that to come loose after 40 years or more.

ETA - It may be impossible to prove it's genuine, but I don't see anything that makes me think it's not. If anyone does, hopefully we'll hear from them.

I don't always know the differences between chimps, monkeys, gorillas or orangutans but this is a picture of a portion of the receipt showing that Coach described it as "monkey."
