Don't ever judge authenticity based on something like hardware stamps. Every style number can have its own stamping arrangement, or no stampings at all, you can ONLY compare those kinds of details between 2 bags that are exactly the same style number. Any so-called authenticity guide, and there are far too many of them, that claims that genuine Coaches should have every piece of hardware stamped Coach is totally wrong and should never be depended on. The older Coaches had no stampings at all, and there are certain kinds of hardware that should never be stamped on any style.

Please, if you haven't already, read the Salearea Guides, they explain what to believe and what not to believe about all the nonsense floating around on the net. There's a massive amount of misinformation about Coach and you need to know what to be concerned with and what is just delusional nonsense spewing from some fool who "writes" a guide full of nonsense, copies of other peoples' mistakes, and just plain lies.

(Actually, I asked for a photo of the magnetic snap, not the buckle, but BeenBurned already authenticated the white one so it's not necessary.)
Thank you for such a detailed and knowledgeable reply! I will go and read the Salearea Guides. Usually I search online and compare the same style coach, but some pics are not clear enough to recognize, so I can't say I am 100% sure. And I can't help but wonder if there is any possibility that several different sellers sell the same kind of fake purse online, and they also share the same incorrect and misleading details... Never mind, I think I just become too anxious after receiving a fake purse.

(Sorry for misunderstanding what you were asking before. magnetic clap.jpg Upload a new one, just want to make sure this is the right place to be the reference :) I know there are some words on it but never read this carefully before)

Dear authenticators, request to authenticate please. Thank you!
Item: I don't know, please advise, thank you!
Where purchased or how obtained: thrift store
Comments: Dimensions are about 8" height, 11" width and 3" depth. It seems to be a dark blue colour. Lobster claw clasps.

It's a genuine style 9300 Companion Bag made in the late 1980s. Here's a 1989 catalog page:

Of COURSE they do! At least 20 percent of listings are Copied and Pasted from someone else's listings, and Ebay can be blamed for a good part of it since they actually SUGGEST listings for a seller to copy if certain keywords are the same in both. That's why you can find hundreds of listing descriptions with incorrect colors or serial numbers that don't even sound like the bag being sold. And that's one reason why so many Coach listings have wrong names or places and years of manufacture - someone is copying someone else, even if they're selling 2 very different styles. "If it's small and has a turnlock, it must be a Dinky", even when it ain't. That happens with both real and fake bags.

Don't ever EVER assume that a seller knows what he or she is talking about and has done any actual research on what they're selling other than using Ebay's disastrous short cut or looking for a bag or item that "kinda looks like" the one they're selling. Probably at least 20 or 25 percent of Coach bags on Ebay are misidentified or incorrectly described. Other venues like Posh, Tradesy, Mercari, Etsy, etc, are even worse. It's easy to get spoiled here at tPF because a very large percentage of members here actually know what they're talking about and can tell a Dinky from a Pocket Purse, but it's not like that in the Real World. And the waters are muddied even more by sellers who throw 3 or 4 different style names into their listing titles so they show up on even more Searches.

BTW, thanks for the magnetic snap photo. Even more proof that it's genuine. :flowers:
