Hi, hubby surprised me with this bag for our anniversary, he said he found it at a thrift store by his work. I have never seen this bag before, its not too big more like a small shoulder bag, is this real? Thank you

Both are authentic. The first is a Lightweights Monterey hobo 4027 from around 1992. The second is a Boulevard bag 4128 from around 1993. The color is probably terracotta. Many black bags photograph blue depending on the camera and the reflections of things nearby.
Regarding color - don't ever expect that a photo of a bag is going to show the color exactly the way the human eye sees it. Many times it doesn't and camera and monitor settings, lighting and even the background color where it's being photographed will affect the way a color looks. I won't even get into what factors can lighten or darken leather over time. That's why I try to never get involved in guessing games about a bag's color.

The first one is NOT from the 1970s as the seller claims, it's from the early 1990s. The hangtag isn't the original one. The style is a 4027 Monterey Hobo from the Lightweight/Soho line

The listing for the second one doesn't state its age but it's also from the early 1990s. No measurements but probably a Boulevard Bag style 4128 from around 1993 and part of the Manhattan Series and made of a similar leather to the Lightweight line.

ETA - Nuts, sniped. At least great minds think alike.
Thank you both! I usually tend to trust inside pics more than outside ones because of reflections and lighting, like you said. But her inside pics were the blueish ones. Interested to see if it’s been altered at all or if it really is black. Either way, can’t know from the pics.

the terra cotta colored one (thanks, Whateve!) looks to have been conditioned more than many its age. Nice surprise! Many thanks again!

Keep in mind that black could also fade over the years to a very dark blue or even dark green.

Thank you, Hyacinth. Good night!
Well, the bag came today and I’m so disappointed. The strap has been shortened and the altered part looks awful. I filed a return because I didn’t think the seller disclosed it and they told me they did. They were right-it’s mentioned in the details that the strap drop is 17”. Guess it just didn’t register. The seller did nothing wrong. I’m stuck with a bag that I won’t use so I wasted $30 AND my free $25 eBay gave me. Sigh.

Could you rig up a different strap? That is so unfortunate!!!

I have a red Devon that somebody made into a shoulder bag. It was so short even for my 5’1” frame. I cut the straps and removed it from the rings and I use the strap from my Willis to make it work. If you have the same color bag with removable straps, you can do that.

If they didn't mention that the bag had been altered, I think you still have a case.
