Hello!
I made this purchase at a local thrift store yesterday. It is missing the hang tag unfortunately. I'm guessing it's a lenox and the color is like a burgundy. The measurements are 10 1/2" width x 8 1/4" height x 3 1/2" deep. If authentic, what is the color, please? Thank you so much for your time and expertise!

It's authentic. There was a 1993 color called Bordeaux, maybe that's it.

Dear Authenticators,

Would it be possible to have the purse listed below authenticated? I purchased it at a yard sale for $3.00. It looked so sad and unwanted. I am not sure what it is called - thinking it could be a stewardess, but is seems to be slightly smaller. I am hoping to rehab it and bring it back to life. Thank you for all of your wonderful help!

Measurements: about: 10.5 inches wide X 9 inches high X 3 inches diameter

Ooooo, lucky you!!!!!

Not only is it a genuine Stewardess, but it looks like a United Airlines Stewardess! Take a close look at the stamp near the end of the strap. Better yet, post a photo here.

The UAL Stewies were slightly smaller than the "civilian" version and had the window in the small slip pocket under the flap. The strap was also a bit shorter IIRC. You actually have a tiny bit of mid-1980s aviation history in your hands.

Give me a few minutes to find a photo.

ETA - Here's what that stamp should look like if it's from United:

Here's the original:

and here it is in an ad from some time between 1981 and 1986, click on the thumbnail to enlarge:

Nice find! And I'm sure you'll give it a good home. If those bags could talk ...!

Hello authenticators! Could you please take a look at these for me?

Poshmark
Seller: ahineg

Seller: claudiahuidobro

any insight regarding style names would be appreciated. The tan one also looks to be in better shape than I’d imagine for leather that old... something seems odd to me. And the black one looks blue!

thank you for all your help!

Both are authentic. The first is a Lightweights Monterey hobo 4027 from around 1992. The second is a Boulevard bag 4128 from around 1993. The color is probably terracotta. Many black bags photograph blue depending on the camera and the reflections of things nearby.

Regarding color - don't ever expect that a photo of a bag is going to show the color exactly the way the human eye sees it. Many times it doesn't and camera and monitor settings, lighting and even the background color where it's being photographed will affect the way a color looks. I won't even get into what factors can lighten or darken leather over time. That's why I try to never get involved in guessing games about a bag's color.

The first one is NOT from the 1970s as the seller claims, it's from the early 1990s. The hangtag isn't the original one. The style is a 4027 Monterey Hobo from the Lightweight/Soho line

The listing for the second one doesn't state its age but it's also from the early 1990s. No measurements but probably a Boulevard Bag style 4128 from around 1993 and part of the Manhattan Series and made of a similar leather to the Lightweight line.

ETA - Nuts, sniped. At least great minds think alike.
