There should be a white label with 2 rows of numbers/letters somewhere in the bag, possibly buried way down inside the zipped pocket. You may have to turn the pocket inside out to find it. Please post a picture.
Hi - that's why I was/am so confused. there is no white label anywhere that I can see! Do you think there's another way to verify?

Thanks!

Genuine from 1998 but I don't have the exact name in my files and have never been able to find it, and I've LOOKED. I DO know that Coach never officially called this one or any other style a "Pilot Bag" with capital letters. Its style is closest to the older Field Bag style.

I purchased this (Lexy) on FB and never used it. It was sold as real. It only weighs 1.3 lbs and the leather doesn’t feel real And yet it doesn’t feel like plastic either no rips or tears and the hardware has not tarnished I’ve had for about a year. I can’t smell it the perfume is too strong.
it measures about 13” wide by 11” high by 4.5” deep.

Thanks very much, Hyacinth. I find it rather unique because it’s the first time I’ve seen a Coach briefcase with a rod across the top AND side pockets!

YES! And since I'm possibly the world's Number One Outside Pockets fanatic, the style has piqued my curiosity. We even discussed it 2 or 3 times since 2014 at different forums here at tPF and found a few more examples, but never found a name or a NWT photo of the price tag and info. Even our Travel and Business Bag Guru NoShoePolish didn't have any information. It might have been made for the outlets in which case there wouldn't be any information on the net unless there was one with a pic of the price tag. I did find one small photo of a black one with a tag but all the links are dead and the tag is folded and too small to read anyway.

So, we have another Mystery Bag to add to the collection.

Hi there:

I received this bag from my son, who said he bought it at a vintage shop in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Love it - just curious about its authenticity. Any information you can share would be great! Thank you!

If you are correct that there's really no tag, the bag can't be authenticated and/or would be fake. (Do you have the bag in your possession or is it still with the seller?)

There should be a tag in this one but it's not easy to find. As I said in my post on Aug 24, 2020, it's hard to find, possibly buried and that you may have to feel around and/or turn the pocket inside out.

Just so you know, you aren't the first poster (nor will you be the last) who insisted that they couldn't find a tag and ended up finding it.

Could somebody look at this for me. Thank you.

FYI - I bought a bag from flyingvalise and while the bag was in beautiful condition it had a really strong smell to it when I received it. It was some kind of a leather treatment or moisturizer smell. You might want to ask about what she uses on her bags or just expect that unless mine was an exception, yours might smell too. Mine has been airing out for a few weeks now and it still smells but it's dissipating. I would still buy another bag from her, the leather on mine is among the best of all my bags, so whatever she uses works, it's just a little smelly.
