And should have said thanks to all of you authenticators and members who post pics! The irony is that there was an accusation that information was not being shared. Yet, and I’ve said this before, that search feature is the bomb! Maybe not all of the authenticators’s files are here but there is a ton of info in this thread! :flowers: To be found by whomever wants to look. It probably helps that my day job entails a good deal of document review!

Exactly!

And I replied here at tPF to a Certain Person's comments at the Ebay Discussion forums about "sharing" on June 1, 2020, the same day that the subject came to a head (forevermore to be known as "D-Day, the First Of June"). I won't post the link but here's just a part of what I posted that was directed to the person who complained on May 27, 2020 at Ebay that:
"...I would just like to say that this ebay Community Site has offered me COUNTLESS authentication References in the past and I have been MORE Than Delighted, Happy and Appreciative of the knowledge That these EXPERTS on this site have done for the Vintage Coach 'World'. I just wish these People that are supposed to be here to HELP you would freely share their Knowledge. I believe NOT to do so is VERY Deceiving!"

And from my response here at tPF:
"...Enough is enough. We've tried to give him good advice (which he completely denies in his Ebay posts when he whines that "no one wants to help him". (I wonder why?) and then calls us DECEIVING for not sharing all our knowledge with him. That isn't the mark of a rational adult, it's the whinging of a spoiled child who wants everything handed to him on a silver platter and all his sins forgiven even though he keeps commiting the same sins over and over again. So NO, I'm not going to spend another SECOND of what's left of my life helping him in any way just do he can keep calling us deceptive and demanding that our time and efforts at getting to the level of experience we've reached by our own efforts be shared with him gratis. Sorry, Ace, if you want to get to the same level of expertise that we have, then put in the same amount of time and effort that we did.

He wants to share? FINE. He can share the expenses then. Share the cost of all the Coach catalogs I've bought over the years, average 25-30 dollars each. Share the wear and tear on my computer(s), I'm on number 3 going on 4, half the cost of a new one will be fine. I need to find space for over 60,000 photo files and hundreds of text files plus the new ones I'll be adding, Share the cost of the storage media for those files, including backups- thumb drives, dvds and cloud. Share the cost of buying bags and wallets I don't need just so I have them for comparison to make it easier to spot fakes. Share the thousands of hours I and the others spend doing all this for FREE, with no reimbursement whatsoever. Ask my husband how many hours a week I put into this. And he can share the expense of new glasses every 3 or 4 years as my eyes get worse and worse from looking at tiny or blurry photos trying to see if the length of the underscore in the abbreviation "No" in the serial number is the right length for the year, plant code and style number on a barely legible creed stamp in a 26-year old handbag. He wants to share? Tell him to get out his checkbook..."

I'm still waiting for a response.

(He better act soon, my hourly rate for all those thousands of hours I've spent researching and sharing what I've learned is based on the going rate for a complete professional authentication including COA and currently stands at 40 dollars an hour. I forsee an increase in the near future.)

Hello Authenticators,
Curious about this red Willis on eBay. It has creed D4F-5130, which should be a station bag. Also the questionable prifix D4F, missing both end leather caps on the wood dowel. I am lean toward it is fake, but it sure looks like the real thing.
Thank you in advance.

It's authentic. Possibly saddle. I don't have a 70s color chart. It isn't pre-creed obviously, it is pre-serial number. It could be a marketing tote. There aren't any measurements in the listing to verify.

Definitely fake. All you need is the first picture to see that. Look at the padding above the turnlock.

Other problems - the shape of the padding in the leather tab right above the turnlock, the fact that not only are the leather dowel caps missing but the dowel ends are painted to match the bag, the length of the shorter end of the strap (the buckle position looks too far away from the end) and the fact that the font and format in the fake D4F- serial prefix isn't even close to the genuine and VERY unusual and distinctive font used by the F plant for a very short time in 1994. Here's an example of a genuine one:

ETA - the pics of the fake's creed aren't very clear but it doesn't take much to see the differences in the prefixes.
