Hello Authenticators,
This eBay listing looks very fake to me, Could you take a look at it? Just want to be sure .
Seller:foister

The number is on the Daria48 Fake Numbers list. The entire serial number is invalid, from the plant code to the style number. Style 7414 belongs to a mercer Shoulder Tote that wasn't even introduced until 1999. And the turnlock has indents. Report away!

I'm new, this place is confusing, more than the hours I just spent learning about the last 40+years of Coach bags.
I can find Authenticate This Coach thread but who knows if I'm there now, so if so then wonderful if not then please help.
Meanwhile, can someone please authenticate this coach.
1. I don't know name of item.
2. It was in a box I recently was given full of various items by a nice old lady in the neighborhood that I helped clean out her garage.
3. And I spent the last two or three hours looking and reading online and I can't find one that looks like this and I'm unsure of maybe at least the number that's on the Creed, but everything seems to check out so I need one of you lovely professional people to help though. Thanks.
Bag measures:(not sure of measuring a bag/purse)
16" W , 10.5" H

Dearest Knowledgeable Ones,

I’m continuing to learn, and have made a few mistakes so far, but I am hoping this isn’t one of them.

Please can you take a moment to review for authenticity for me:

Seller: Croc684
Comments: I believe this is a Bleeker Tattershall. 2007 release. It has a distinctive ‘X’ on the creed. The colour is very soft, pale natural leather - I’m not sure of the colour name, so if it is genuine, any insight welcomed as always.

Thank you very much.

It's authenthic, a Bleecker leather hobo made in 2007.

Hi,
Thank you so much for your help thus far! I do not know history at at all. I have uploaded additional photos of the turnlock. The information about the turnlock is so interesting and is something I will use when I list this item. Sorry for asking quote question guess I missed that in reading what to do, my apologies. I appreciate you pointing out that to look up value I need to look up completed listings! So many individuals miss this important step! :-) I have cleaned the bag with quality leather cleaner and moisturizer. The front of the bag was SO dry when I found it. I have an arsenal of cleaning products that I use. Do you have a recommendation for a quality moisturizer that is your go-to? I am always looking for quality products to use on the items I purchase. Thank you again for your help. It is much appreciated! ~A

Are you familiar enough with the bag's history to know if the turnlock has been replaced at any time? We'd like to see a photo of the "back plate", the part of the turnlock that's located on the long leather tab and that the prongs from the front plate are holding on to. The serial number and details of the leather tab holding part of the turnlock indicates a bag from the late 1980s but the turnlock shape has to be a replacement since the shape is newer, so I'd like to see if the lock was made by Coach or is a non-Coach replacement. It's a minor thing but a buyer might like to know, and might question its authenticity if the turnlock wasn't the same age as the bag. Mentioning when selling that a part or piece of hardware has been replaced is recommended. Briefcases from the time period yours was made should have oval turnlocks. This one is what we'd call rectangular and that shape wasn't used by Coach until 1996.

It IS genuine, a Metropolitan Brief Bag from the late 1980s, style number 5180. We're not allowed to quote values since there no set values on vintage Coaches and this site doesn't allow price or value quotes. The best way to determine an asking price is to search a large selling site like Ebay for "coach metropolitan brief 5180" and select the "Completed items" from the left side of the page under the "Show Only" category. The prices in Green are what bags of that style have recently SOLD for, not just what the asking price was. Look for bags in the same condition and from the same time period. Metropolitans from that time period will have an all-numeric serial number. Bags with letters of the alphabet in the first half will be from 1994 or newer. It can definitely be described as "vintage" which indicates 20 years old or older.

I forgot to add that in my notes I had this bag NYC Rambler crossed that out and my next note was Metropolitan Portfolio and that was what I was going to use in listing. Glad I have the correct name now and the information on turnlock is fabulous.
