Hi !
I am a newbie and have read the instructions on how to properly ask for help. Please forgive if I don't get it right. I purchased a Vintage Coach messenger bag. I am trying to determine the actual name of the bag, what it is worth and of course to make sure that it is an authentic bag. I resell my bags online and have been doing it for about 2 years. This bag has me perplexed so that is why I am reaching out here. Looks like an amazing site and I can't wait to see and learn! Thank you for your help. I appreciate it very much.

The bag is Black smooth leather. It has a long adjustable stop ( buckle style). The bag has turn-lock closure.
Creed has No 073-2030 which from my research is telling me that number is specific to this bag but does not give an identifying name of the bag. It measures 15.5" wide and 11.5" tall. Bottom of bag measures 3" wide. IMG_3772.JPG

Are you familiar enough with the bag's history to know if the turnlock has been replaced at any time? We'd like to see a photo of the "back plate", the part of the turnlock that's located on the long leather tab and that the prongs from the front plate are holding on to. The serial number and details of the leather tab holding part of the turnlock indicates a bag from the late 1980s but the turnlock shape has to be a replacement since the shape is newer, so I'd like to see if the lock was made by Coach or is a non-Coach replacement. It's a minor thing but a buyer might like to know, and might question its authenticity if the turnlock wasn't the same age as the bag. Mentioning when selling that a part or piece of hardware has been replaced is recommended. Briefcases from the time period yours was made should have oval turnlocks. This one is what we'd call rectangular and that shape wasn't used by Coach until 1996.

It IS genuine, a Metropolitan Brief Bag from the late 1980s, style number 5180. We're not allowed to quote values since there no set values on vintage Coaches and this site doesn't allow price or value quotes. The best way to determine an asking price is to search a large selling site like Ebay for "coach metropolitan brief 5180" and select the "Completed items" from the left side of the page under the "Show Only" category. The prices in Green are what bags of that style have recently SOLD for, not just what the asking price was. Look for bags in the same condition and from the same time period. Metropolitans from that time period will have an all-numeric serial number. Bags with letters of the alphabet in the first half will be from 1994 or newer. It can definitely be described as "vintage" which indicates 20 years old or older.

They're both genuine.

The first one might be a Swagger, style 9820 from the early 1990s, it's hard to tell without measurements. The Swagger was about 12 inches in length

The second one is a Legacy Slim Duffle 9816 from what looks like 1999.

Hi! Hoping to get some insight on the authenticity of this bag, thank you!

Vintage Coach Dinky Crossbody Bag Purse Made in the USA

It's fine. It's not a dinky. It's a pocket purse made in the early 90s.

I found these, no idea if they're right.

BB, I leave it in your hands. I had no idea there were so many of these.

@BeenBurned
ETA - This seems to settle it, I think it's OK. Scroll down about 2/3rds of the way down:

ETA - I confirmed the style number from that site's info copied right from Coach.com, style number 57233.

The ones coming up on Google under 57233 are mostly from Posh, but they all match and the price tags look right.

Thank you both @Hyacinth and @BeenBurned for your research. I looked everywhere and couldn't find another one like it but now I do see it's legit. I did send a message to the seller and she made an excuse about attaching the wrong tag to the rocket and that if I didn't believe her I could take it to a Coach store and they would validate it's real. We all know that is Crap. She should have just sold it without the wrong tag. Again I appreciate the time you put into researching this!

Hi there-- Can someone please look at this bag I recently won on eBay? I did a search of the style number and found very little. It looks like a combination of a Sonoma Nubuc Tribeca Shopper?
title: Coach #H8D-4394 Chocolate Brown Leather Shoulder Bag
seller: reyna_pined
eBay listing 254659926406
link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-H8D-4394-Chocolate-Brown-Leather-Shoulder-Bag-/254659926406?nma=true&si=tkwkLBqpPVb17tck5an3pS6EtMk%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
It's authentic. It's a nubuc Tribeca large hobo. The color was called chocolate.
